Anyone used GBuy yet? Any security concerns or issues thus far?

I haven't started yet, but I'm sure it'll eventually become the standard.

I think I've become so familiar with paypal I'll probably stick with them for the majority though.

It's a little too simple so far and doesn't have all the options that paypal has. So far it just has an option for you to add your credit card info to your account so you can buy from a merchant who accepts it if you wish. No sending money to thers, recieving payments, etc.. It's just kind of a wallet to hold a credit card number.

I guess my main issue is security. All your gmail services are lumped under one username and password. The password I use for gmail is not as secure as what I use for paypal. I guess I have to change that if I want to use this service.

So Nathan, do you think it's worth using as of now? Should we wait a few months until it improves and becomes the "norm" method of payment? Or should we rush into it?

Any information from someone already using it?

From what I can tell it has no value to webmasters yet unless I'm really missing something. All it does is hold your credit card info so you can do a one click buy from a merchant. How you become a merchant I don't know.

I'm assuming you guys are talking about Google Checkout? If so, I don't think its anything close to what GBuy will be - Checkout is more or less just another payment gateway, and isn't a full blown Paypal competitor yet.

GBuy should be pretty secure. It's not like Greenzap (I'm surprised it's still online :0) that was so obvious it was a scam, that almost no one used it. I guess GBuy will become what it promised. The arch enemy of PayPal .

So what you are talking about is that Gbuy and google checkout are two different services of google?

They bought GBuy.com but then later changed the name.

I think they are supposed to be the same, they have been referred to as the same, yet I haven't seen Google call it GBUY yet.

im gonna sign up for it and integrate it with my sites and see what happens.
it uses XML so it will be easy to do.
but the main problem is that its just base64 encoded XML so someone could download the XML, decode it , change the price, and recreate a page with the new XML cart on it and get something for cheaper like what some people do with paypal.
they really need a better system to encode the XML but other then that i see no limits to this service.

GBuy is just what all of the speculators called it before Google officially announced the launch of the service I believe. It's kind of a nickname that we can't stop using =\
