How to create a downloadable file?

I don't know how to use File Manager or FTP or whatever. I wanna make a downloadable file.

This is the correct answer! Upload filename.zip to your hosting account and then create a link to yourdomain.com/filename.zip

I was wondering if you can do it with out making it a zip. I have a directory with some files in it and instead of right clicking - save target as I want to just be able to click it and have it download.
