Ok, I'm desperately looking for some advice here.

I have a number of websites. I need a web based software application that allows me to serve banner, text, and flash ads to all of my web sites. I must be able to create zones, create multiple advertisers, upload banners, etc. I must be able to install this application on my windows server. It must be able to generate standard reports. I prefer usable / simple software over feature packed software (however I am open to anything at this point).

I've already tried these (without success):

Absolute Banner Manager .NET
- this app is the closest I've come that provides a solution - however sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't. Spaghetti code.

Openx
- Its a very nice application, and this could also solve my problem - however it doesn't work correctly on windows / IIS. I get all kinds of errors when uploading banners, editing them, deleting them. I have to restart the application pool every 5 min to keep this one up and running.

There are so many mickey mouse / homegrown applications out there that I can take the time to install, configure, integrate....then find out its buggy code and have to start again from scratch with a new application. I just don't have the time to do that. Do you feel me? Have you ever been in this position?

What software do you use to serve ads on your website?

Thank you very much for your help.

Tim

This is why I write my own software, my friend.

I've never had to federate ads across a number of web sites before, so I can't recommend anything. But if I couldn't find a shrink wrap solution after hours of homework and testing, I'd probably build a web service to syndicate ads to your sites and log requests. It takes time away from other pursuits, but you have something that does what you need at the end of the day.

Personaly I reccomend Phpadsnew, although I believe it has now been renamed to OpenAds.

It's php based but it supports all ad formats.

Which in turn got renamed to OpenX. He's already tried it and unfortunately it didn't work out.

Yeah, sorry about the windows thing. OpenX is awesome. I almost worked for forbes.com and they run that. I was so happy to get to see that when it was still phpadsnew in such an enterprise environment.

Ummm... how about revsense? www.w3matter.com - contextual ads. They might be going out of business soon cuz they dropped the price for $150 with extras to $99 for everything.

also this one:
http://www.clippersoft.net/index.php - it's like $32.

One advertising system I've implemented on one of my own websites is one called mAd and its basically a banner rotation system with true rotation and stats. It also has an admin system to manage everything, pretty simple to install too you can find that one over at hotscripts.

Thank you all for your input.

OpenAds looks great, however I've tried it running it on IIS (windows) and all I get is error after error after error.

I'll take a look at the rest that were recommended and let you know what I find.

Thanks again!
