Sorry, this is going to seem very very dumb I'm sure, but I was wondering, once you point your DNS over to your host server, how do you get your "homepage" to open when you type in the the URL?

Have you uploaded your home (or index) page to the public_html root of your server?

You could try setting up a redirect via your server control panel.

Wow, great idea actually. Unfortunately, as I just tried it I got a message stating:

invalid URL : a domain cannot redirect to itself

I'm sorry, I should have been more specific. The homepage that I want is a file called: main7_v8.html and not index. Should I just rename it index?

Again, thank you so much for all of the advice!!!

I don't know why it would be "pointing to itself", are you sure it isn't already the "homepage" when you visit the URL?

This is what the redirect should look like:
http://www.domain.com/main7_v8.html >to>
http://www.domain.com

Did you make this a permanent redirect?

Also, if you could provide the site's URL, it would help us out so we can see what we're dealing with.

Sorry about that! The site is:

http://www.helenyoo.com but the actual homepage should be
http://www.helenyoo.com/main7_v8.html

Thanks again, I am trying to make a website for my grandmother for her bday with my limited web skills!

Hello there guys. Okay, so I changed main7_v8.html to index.html by using Save As. Unfortunately, when I go to the website (helenyoo.com) I am now getting this error message "This page requires AC_RunActiveContent.js."

I obviously messed things up further. Any advice would be very appreciated!

Yes, I saw that. I didn't realize that "main7_v8.html" is coded into the gallery software. You'll have to name it back and then create another index.html file that redirects to main7_v8.html.

The new index.html can be blank but should include

Code:
<meta http-equiv="refresh" content="0;url=http://www.helenyoo.com/main7_v8.html">

in the head section. That should do it.
