How to do this 301 redirect

I want to redirect all pages of website A that are in folder "Gallery" to the www.websiteB.com/index.php

How can i do that?

redirect 301 /gallery/ http://www.newsite.tld

should be fine.

chrishirst suggestion above will only work on Apache web server, and needs to be written to the .htaccess file on the public root directory. I don't believe this requires the mod rewrite to be active.
