I've seen this website canaca.com quite long time ago, and this question was on my mind ever since, i think their reseller plans are cheap and their prices are just too low, lower than like hmm most of reseller plans from any other companies, so anyone ever tried them? used reseller plan? i've emailed them about questions like this.. but still i would like to know the answer from webmaster talk community? so what you guys think.

Prices that low are just UNBELIEVABLE. I read here: http://www.siteadvisor.com/sites/can...=safe&aff_id=0 that their support isn't that great. For such low prices, it is probably right. I really wonder how companies like that are able to make profits AT ALL - never mind including things like support. Go for a more reliable company - I use EUKHost here in the UK but a friend of mine uses Servint which he practically swears by. Ultimately, if you are reselling, you need great support and reliable hosting. Such cheap prices like the ones at Canaca are too good to be believed - support is probably not that good and you can never be sure about reliability.

I'm just wondering how they can do this, appart from overselling....
In the same time, the domain was registered in 1998, looks like they are here from a long time...
And the "waybackMachine" have recorded their first page on the oct 13 1999

Canaca has been around for a long time...I don't remember why I think this, but for some reason, I recall them running a telemarketing campaign a few years back (which is enough by itself for me to want nothing to do with them).

As far as reseller plans go, there's another route you can take. Sectorlink (that's the host where my dedicated server sits) lets you pick individual plans and gives you a reseller discount based on volume (it's 20% after you buy 5 plans, and I forget how it goes after that). Their support is top-notch; the only bad thing about it is that it spoiled me somewhat and now I expect to deal with people who actually have a clue when I make non-Sectorlink support requests (and that's not even close to a realistic goal here in Canada.)

Depending on your ambitions, you may want to consider using a VPS rather than a "straight" reseller plan.

Note: This doesn't really apply if you're taking Adam's suggestion regarding selling Sectorlink plans.

However, assuming that you're still considering your options... I'm recommending a VPS as a potentially better alternative since you can upgrade easier later. On the assumption that you intend to grow, you can scale a VPS up to the size of a full dedicated server with zero downtime and zero hassle (e.g. no migrations etc.).

With shared hosting (which most reseller plans basically are) then you're stuck having to migrate once you exceed the maximum size of the provider's reseller plan.

At some point you're also likely to want full admin access to your chosen control panel software, and more control over things like PHP / MySQL versions etc.

A VPS also offers additional branding opportunities in order to help re-enforce your own brand, and hide your provider's brand.

Some of the above is provider-dependant... so you should always get as much information during pre-sales as possible.

Just keep in mind that your decisions now will impact how awkward the future will be, and what your options are then etc. Therefore it's worth taking time to consider all options and carefully select the most appropriate for your situation.

I'm not suggesting a VPS is necessarily what you should pick, as I don't know the full details of what you're looking for - only you can really make this choice.

It's also worth noting that many VPS providers don't offer VPS management (meaning you have the additional burden of server management tasks/problems); those that do offer it vary in quality and extent of their management experience and range. If you opt for a managed VPS, make sure that you clarify exactly who would be responsible for upgrades, monitoring, adding modules to PHP etc. and any restrictions on what you can do with the VPS or otherwise ask your provider's support team to do for you in terms of management etc.

Oh... and the usual rules apply about checking backups are taken, restores are possible (and free!), support availability and so on.

well i think what I'm looking for reseller accounts, use my own brand, +700 gigabytes for disk space, and like +1500 for bandwidth.. guys i found such requirements in canaca.com reseller accounts, but you know, as i heard so far, their support is not that much at all, and web hosting business is about the support and help..

i also looked around and found out, good reseller accounts in site ground.
check it here:: http://www.siteground.com/reseller_hosting.htm

please share any reseller account that offer closer requirements with great support, what would you recommend? thanks.

Quicko: I don't know where you got the idea that you could get more than 700 GB of HD space on a reseller plan, but that's dedicated server country (and high end dedicated server country at that). Your general rule of thumb should be bandwidth = 20 x HD space.

I don't know that you're going to find that even in the dedicated server area. The VPS idea Damien suggested is good too, but it's even less likely you'll find that there.

Thanks for your advice, really appreciate that. well let's say that I'm really looking for a big hard disk space and bandwidth, i would like to deal with much more gigabytes in bandwidth and gigabytes in order to offer them for clients.. VPS, dedicted servers are quite amazing.. but hmm what about the reseller plans? what would you recommend as the big gigabyte type of reseller with good support? thanks.

I'm not understanding why you must have a reseller plan? VPS or dedicated servers usually come with the same tools and software as reseller plans, and usually even more. Reseller plan are almost always on shared servers so they are slower and not as reliable as VPS or dedicated servers.

Forget reseller plans if you need those amounts of resources.

I think that you have to consider companies providing VPS (or dedicated) and reseller packages as well. Maybe these ones will be intersted for you: myriadnetwork.com (VDS&reseller), a2hosting.com (reseller&VPS&Dedicated)
I think that point of view can make your choise wider.
