Problems of Unlimited Hosting and Overselling

When looking for a Web Hosting company to provide space for you, you normally look for the best deal with the most to offer. What your soon find out is that your “good deal” turns out to be a wrong move. False advertising is what you have fallen into.
When you see the words Unlimited most people are drawn in immediately. The problem is that you cannot receive unlimited space and bandwidth, it is truly impossible.
Most companies will advertise webspace and bandwidth that they don’t even have. Many companies today offer you unlimited, or and astronomical amount of webspace for a inexpensive price. The problem is that most companies don’t have that much space to give out. What they are doing is hoping that you don’t use all of the space that they allotted you. But, if you decided to use all of your 200GB, most likely you will have a slow server or no server at all.
There are certain was to protect yourself from falling into the scam of unlimited Bandwidth. The best one is carefully read the company’s terms of use and conditions. Most of the time you will find out what they say about there unlimited hosting and is a little different than what they told you before.
Xangular is proud that we don’t fall into the crowd of scammers. We allot you the amount of webspace that we can provide you. Most companies that give unlimited web hosting within a short amount of time shut down and leave you with no place to go. Xangular is in it for the long run. We won’t bail on you because of false advertising gone wrong.

Hmm... whilst I'm completely with you on the false advertising gripes with unlimited/stupidly high allocations (space/transfer etc.) I'm not sure it was necessary to make this into an advertising post for yourself?

Users here are looking for help and honest advice - there's a section of the forum devoted to placing adverts if you feel that helps your cause...

its not fake, and indead of giving you a limit of 100GB, some hoster does give unlimited space or bandwidth.

usually there is governing TOS.. where you can not exceed to cpu usage. and not to use the space for backup of hosting file, as the hoster already tap backup for you. Meaning the unlimited space is for your hosting files alone. and INODES is usually below 50,000... thus you can not dump more than 50k files inside

fact is unlimited hosting is much more expensive. usually above $10.
with this price, at today market, you can easily getting 2 shared hosting with 300GB each. what you paid for is thus equal 600gb

That's right, people who are advertising unlimited bandwidth are actually over-selling their resources to such an extent that their customers are bound to be in trouble in their short experience with that particular host as no provider can be in the long run with that type of promise to its client's. These web -hosts sometimes are teenagers also who are operating from their homes are just there to make a quick buck and flee.

Overselling is just wrong. If a host does that, and you actually start coming close to using 100 gigs of space, they ban you or make you pay more. Unlimited space or bandwidth? That's just another lie. Some companies oversell successfully. Look at HostGator, 1&1, DreamHost. They have extremely strict rules and move accounts around like crazy to attempt to keep low usage accounts next to other low usage accounts. This helps them appear to not be overselling. Be careful when going for the lowest priced hosting companies.

unlimited space is in the sense of use the space for your website files.
in most host, this will exclude space for backup or file sharing.

I think it depends all on an individual. One should be able to distinguish between the unlimited space and limited space offer and at the same time one should be able to understand the need. It’s not like that the companies who oversell their plans are not good. Try to get information from your sources and do some research. Is there any harm in getting 10 times space at same cost with all the features in it? Don’t just blindly follow all the rating sites which are most scammed ones.Take some efforts and I hope you will get the best deal.
