I have been paying into Network Solutions, for a couple of domain names, for over 10 years.
Unfortunately, I had to leave the country for a few months, to handle a serious family situation, but left my spouse to pick up the mail. I told her to watch for mail from Network Solutions regarding renewal.
Apparently, unknown to me, Network Solutions NEVER told their clients, that despite their hefty fees, they've chosen to stop sending out snail mail. Instead, they send out two or three renewal messages via email, and after that, they sell your domains off to the highest bidder. They also never told their clients that the grace period for renewal has been halved since last year. I returned on the 29th to find my best names had been sold to other people, and I had no recourse.
I'm out 10 domains I have paid thousands of dollars for over the years, and NS has nothing to say but "i'm sorry, we stopped sending out email notifications." So, tell me again, why do they charge TWICE the price of other hosting services?
Meanwhile, Register.com, contacted the home phone via phone, plus, they sent snail mail. For much less per year to renew than Network Solutions. Their customer service was primo.
Network solutions admits that they charge more, but they cannot justify the extra expense with either service or quality of support.
Give NS a skip, and register your domains at Register.com or one of the other main competitors. These guys suck at customer suppport/
Sign me as one unhappy FORMER NETWORK SOLUTIONS CLIENT. POS company!
