hi,
I need to select a solid windows hosting company for a client of mine.
Windows, because their application is written in asp.
I spent some time researching good windows hosting and I haven't come to any conclusion yet.
Lot of guys here praise lunarpages but when you google their reviews you got rather discouraging results:

I've been using 1and1 for years, sure their cust support suck ***, but I haven't had any major hiccups. Plus I don't know much about their windows hosting.

Hostgator doesn't seem to do windows hosting yet.

Please advise.

They give 1500 MB of disk space and 100 GB data transfer. I am now using them for about 3 months and never seen any downtime of server problems. There is no any kind of advertising on my pages too, so I think its worth to signup.

I use Upstream Gaming for hosting. I have several websites being hosted with them. I've been using them for hosting for a little more then a year and I've never had any major problems with them.

Support is always online via AIM or the live support chat on their website.

hostmonster.com is an established webhost. I'm with them and have been satisfied by their service so far.

I suppose that you chodse web host according to your needs. That can be one host now and another one tomorrow

It’s not going to be an easy decision.

I called hostgator and was told that I can run asp under their shared Linux hosting with chilisoft asp … somehow I’m not too thrilled about it.

Can anyone comment on U2-web as they get quite a few reviews on this site?

i was using HostDepartment. they were good. recently they updated their servers but for new clients only. and they still refusing to do so for existing clients. it was much disappointing for me . so i moved on host gator and its really great.

I think that I can add an interesting insight into this discussion. My site tracks online comments of about 1300 webhosts weekly. And there is one site that is consistently at the bottom of the list, and has sufficient volume of comments to show that its rating is not a fluke.

The highest score it has ever acheved was 15/100, the lowest was 5/100.

That host is from brazil and is called elserver.com

I do have records for hosts with lower scores but I don't have enough data to know if the data is real or is a statistical anomaly.

To be 100% honest it is possible that the low scores are due to language issues.

Yep often smaller web hosting companies do respond faster than big companies as their client base is also meagre.Yet we need to see if the hosting packages offered by smaller companies is worth it.

I co-locate with Sago Networks in Tampa, FL. Their network is one of the best and they have excellent support too. Definitely one of the best in my opinion.

I am very, very satisfied with my webhost, Synhosting.

I just uploaded my site, messed something up.

Sent a trouble ticket. (that was after midnight).

About 30 minutes later my site was working.

It can't get better than this.

They don't oversell, have good prices, and - for not so experienced people like me particularly important - have first rate customer service.

They are also very courteous.

Very interesting approach

FWIW - my first choice linux VPS host doesn't even make the list

So while I like the idea, I'd have to use this in conjunction with all the other aids out there. Be a good place to start looking though.

I find http://www.frix.info quite good.
Godaddy is the worst... I had worst experience with godaddy 2 times. Cant Forgive Mr. Parson for that.

Well I don't think there's a definite best host or a worst host. There are always good and bad reviews for every host but i think IXWebHosting and ICDSoft are some of the better host and you probably want to avoid GoDaddy.
