I am trying to figure out what a good bandwidth limit is for a free hosting account. Any ideas/thoughts/formulas? LOL.

It really depends on popularity of the website. If it is just for starter websites, they aren't likely to go over 2GB of bandwidth in the first month. So, I guess that would be the best amount to give, however some sites need more.

If its free I suggest visiting angelfire and seeing what they offer. I think they are the best.

Yeah I guess I will check them out. I just don't want to buried under high bandwidth free accounts so much so that I have to close up but I also don't want to be cheap about it and not give enough bandwidth...

I just looked and it seems they offer 20gb of space and 1gb of monthly bandwidth. Of course they run ads on the pages and so will I.

I don't expect nor do I want to grow as big as they are. This site will not be for just general run of the mill come look at my pet/kids/favorite band etc. type site.

It has a very specific purpose.
