Heya,

I'm working for a band who would like to do an online concert. At the studio they have quicktime broadcaster and a t1 line, however, their webhost only offers real video. Anyone know a good place who offers streaming quicktime?

Sounds strange but you may want to look at Mac Hosting:

Thanks for the link, actually, it doesn't sound that weird, I think OS X is the most stable thing going.. (It's just really pretty BSD) Although they have to have somewhat high prices from buying all those macs ;-) I guess it would make sense do this... Or I could just have them install osx server at the studio and do it from there, being musicians they have all macs. Thanks, now my gears are turning!

Hi,
I have an online radio station and was server shopping as well. I found that:
http://www.adiungo.com
is AWESOME! For under $5/Mo. I got a VPS with root access, and The Open source software (Darwin) for quicktime is installed for free just by clicking a link in the CP. Plus it is UNIX hosting to boot. Like I said I just signed up with them, and haven't had a chance to set up any streaming audio yet, but it is a very nice atmosphere for learning to run a dedicated server, and I am having fun with it.
I hope that helps!

Sweet, these guys look pretty awesome and seem to have their shiznonny together. I asked my current UNIX host if they would install the darwin build and they said NO WAY. I may have to switch providers. I'm trying to talk a local isp into doing it as a sort of sponsorship kinda thing, but we'll see. Thanks for the 411.

That is strange that your current host said no way. This is like one of the easiest installs for streaming I have seen.

Really? That's helpful, maybe I'll pester them in a very evil manner until they decide to install it. BWUHAHAHAH. It runs on all flavors of unix?
