I've always used the Free Web hosting services of the ISPs + the likes of Bravenet.

I'm now thinking of branching out and offering to Develope and Host Websites to who ever needs one.

So my Questions:-

Who do you use as your Hosting Company.

What do they charge.

What made you decide to go with the provider you use.

Which Company would you recommend I'd best to use.

I will have to sell/handover some sites, when created, for the buyer to have control over it's contents.

What is your experience of Building and Selling Web Sites.

Any answers or question to the above would be appreciated.

If you feel any information doesn't want broadcasting then please feel free to PM me.

-lunarpages.com

What do they charge.
-$9/month

What made you decide to go with the provider you use.
-great reviews

-that has nothing to do with the host, you give them the software then its their issue for hosting, you shouldnt be hosting anything for them after its made. if you want to give space to people you are heading into the web hosting buisness, which would require a reseller plan.

What is your experience of Building and Selling Web Sites.
-verry little

I use http://www.hostingdepartment.net
They charge $15.99 for a 10Gb/200Gb Reseller.
I decided to go with them because I knew other people that were happy with them and they had a 40% off sale.
I recommed them. Right now you can get double your bandwidth with any reseller plan.

I use Site5. I bought their RSX package when it was on sale, not sure what the specs are on it, but it is comparable in transfer / storage to the above post, and I think they beat that price by a few bucks. The great thing about site5 is their knowledgebase (forum) where their mods are actaul employees. In addition, you can call, email or submit a trouble ticket whenever you have info. Always fast servers, always great customer service.

That's a closely guarded secret but I use a reseller account with one of the best UK hosts

In USD? For my account about $40/month

That's difficult as it depends on what services you need, always go for quality of support and never the price (you get what you pay for).

Any reseller account will enable you to give as much or as little access to your clients.

I have been creating and hosting clients sites for more years than I can remember

My advice is to thoroughly read these forums (and others) to see who people are recommending and ranting about, also do a Googlesearch to find other information. During your travels you will find some "big" names that advertise very heavily - just because a host has a high profile doesn't mean to say they are any good!

I use http://www.ez1web.com for the most part. One thing they allow is to hand off my client's tech support questions on things like email setup (for Outlook Express, etc.) to them. They act as my hired tech support. Works REALLY well with some of my pain in the butt customers.
