For the small business Webmaster, who is busy supporting websites, and doing development work, there is a little known, but excellent
"secret" to hosting a number of domains at a quality (I mean top service... people who are really there for you) web hosting company.
You pick a company that lets you add-on domain names, then pick a fairly robust basic plan (over 500mb storage/over 200 GB data transfer) and add the ability to host domains (smaller ones for smaller clients) when you need them -- that is, when you start getting paid by your clients.
EXAMPLES: There is a hosting company in our international group,
PickleZoneHosting.com, that offers upgrades in domains hosted at 2 for $1.99/mo. This means that each time you get a new client you are charging $3 - $7 a month, you can host them ON YOUR EXISTING PLAN for a cost of $1 mo.
Compare 2 Plans:
a) BizPro Plan - starts out with 4 domains available for hosting, at $14.50 mo. Add $2 for every two more you host. So, if you have 2 of your own websites, and 6 clients on this plan, your cost per month would then be $18.50, while you could be making $36 (at $6 mo. charged to 6 clients ) per month.
Not too bad.
b) Corporate Plan - start out hosting 10 domains, already, for $16.99 mo. and add in sets of 2 for $1.99 mo. So, for $18.98 a month, you could host your own 2 domains, plus 12 clients! You would then be earning $72 a month ($6 x 12 clients) f
or a profit of $53 mo. -- $636 a year.
This is slightly higher than "cheap reseller" programs -- but you get what you pay for, like great, guaranteed, and free support (at our company referenced here).
