I am looking for a good free web traffic analyser. What do people recommend?

awstats is one of the better ones out there. You could also use a third party tracker such as Goggle analytics (formerly Urchin)

i use analytics but it does not report properly , it says things lke i had 200 visits when in fact in my adwords account it was 1000 clicks

I've both AWStats and Google Analytics. I like them both for different reasons. AWStats is generally less detailed than Google, but it's still value added. Google is extremely detailed, and a bit confusing for less knowledgeable users, but it's extremely helpful and I'd hate to think what you'd have to pay for this type of service. I think a shared overview of your stats is good thing, you just have to find the programs that suit your needs and budget.

My opinion is google analystics. Because it works for me, try it out...

Another vote for awstats.

It is another example of an excellent Open Source (GPL) project.

Some accurate stats of how many sites were using awstats would be interesting.

Google Analytics is the best:
- Traffic analytics: source, search engine , counter
- Keyword analytics: density keyword
- Regional analytics: you will get a useful info about where, how many...
... and more...

Google Analytics is an absolute must.
