Well, guys first off thanks for opening my topic and reading it.
Well, ok I am new to all this and don't know nothing. I have a full fan site with a Message Board of *180+ memebers and growing*. Now, that my site is getting more and more popular I would like to make it permanent with a good host, and domain name!
Guys, please tell me which are the CHEAPIST and Really good hosts, for site hosting and domain names. I would also like a host so I can build my site using their 'SITE BUILDER' so they should also have a site builder.
Please guys I want a real good idea on this cause I am very seriouse about this, so please no guessings or nothing. I don't have a big finical deal here, so I would like the good and cheap ones for both site-builder hosting and domain name.
Please help me and give me your suggestions...
Thanx!
P.S. I have a couple in mind, but first I want some sites from you guys, then I will tell you all mine!

godaddy for the domain, but not hosting.
8/month good for you? if so, try lunarpages.com
and dont use website making programs, they are not compatible almost all of the time and it is hard to modify by hand if you ever need to. html isnt hard to learn, took me 3 weeks when I was 12
but if you insist, google "free wysiwig"

IMO you should always check 24/7 tech support and good uptime along with reputed and reliable web host. You should also check for free trial or 30 days money back guarantee. I would suggest lunarpages, hostgator, eukhost.
For domain registrations, namecheap, domainsite, netfirms are reliable and reputed domain registrars. You should visit their site.

I use netfirms, but godaddy is cheaper.
and lunarpages does not have 24/7 phone support, but they do have 24/7 chat support. that makes the accent barrier of outsourcing non existant, they have never let me down.

I'd suggest you to get a "real" hosting, so you will avoid troubl;es in the future when your site will grow

If you are getting a lot of traffic, then you will need better then a budget host. You will need a quality host that will allow your site to grow. You will need to be able to upgrade as needed, maybe eventually into a dedicated server.
As far as a Site builder goes, you don't need it. Once you build your site with a site builder, it becomes extremely difficult to move it to a new host if you have to. You're better off using a WYSIWYG editor such as Nvu

Oh thanx, but you see I went to their website, and it is so hard to understand it it was real confusing! How does that really work? Do you have to have Dreamwork, or frontpage to make a site?

Nvu does what Dreamweaver and frontpage does, only difference is it's free. It allows you to create a website within a Microsoft Word like interface. You can create a page by simply dragging and dropping things where you want them to be.
You do not have to use any of these tools, it's your choice.
Depeding on what kind of website you want, you can even install scripts such as Joomla or osCommerce. These are premade sites that all you need to do is customize them. Most have lots of design templates so you don't even need to worry about creating a website.

^Oh man thanx a lot! So got loads of questions now.
Ok, so once you download it Free, and set it up, and once you are done your site, do they give you a url? Or you have to upload the files or something?
Also, my site is a celebrity fan site: here it is... http://www.hrithik-roshan.2ya.com, so what would be the best software thing for my site?

By the looks of your site, you would benefit most by using a content management system (CMS) as you have a lot potential content. I would reccomend Joomla ( www.joomla.com) as it is my personal favorite. There are a few others that I'm sure other members could reccommend. Joomla is cool because there are a lot of "addons" you can get for it such as download sections, forums, photo galleries etc. These all just "bolt on" to Joomla without you needing any technical knowledge.
If you go with a CMS, there are a ton of free design templates you can use for it, or you can design your own. But I would try getting a premade one and cusomizing it to get a feel for how the templating system works.
You will need hosting with a MySql database and PHP. That's about it. You will also want to get a domain name as well. If you go with a host that uses Fantastico, you can install Joomla as well as other CMS's very easily, click here for a list of scripts that can be installed with Fantastico.

Why don`t you try Mambo Server ( http://mamboserver.com). It is very powerfull portal and CMS system. It`s free and very user friendly to install.

Mambo is slowly fading, IMO. The developers for Mambo left and formed Joomla, and Joomla is the one that is making great progress as far as features and stability goes.

The vast majority of hosts don't charge for PHP and give you by default a decent number of Mysql databases (many actually state unlimited/unmetered). Just read the package's specifications and things should be clear.

I highly recommend you buy yourself a domain. It's really just a small investment, but it's probably the wisest you can do for your website. I can recommend you namecheap.com for registering your domain.
If you decide to use Joomla or any other CMS for that matter, keep in mind that you must keep them upgraded, to minimize the chances of getting hacked. This means you must keep an eye on the developer's site and when they release a new stable version, upgrade to it.
There are a lot of things to learn ahead of you, but many satisfactions as well.

You have to buy a real .com domain in order to host your web site on a paid host. Using a real domain name instead of a free domain would also increase your web site's image.
