Hi tim, not sure but I use www.cj-hosting.com - they are really fast at replying to support queries and their FTP is quick too (my previous host was slow as anything for FTP!)

www.hostdepartment.com look like they are based in US too. I see that your location is UK, maybe a UK host would be better for you?

Host Department shuld be avoided like the plague

I opened an unlimited account there. Moved all my domains over and started working. Withing a month of opening my account I was out of business for over two weekes. They claimed there was a problem with the server, and they were working on it. For two weeks? what about the 99.99% uptime gurantee? well, they said that I had no recourse until service fell below 90% uptime. in otherw words, they do not guarantee anything, no matter what their advertising says.

Over the next two months I suffered outages every day. Sometimes it was just a few minutes. sometimes it was 20-30 minutes and on up to a couple of hours.

I suffered an e-mail outage for three days one time. that, of course, is not covered in their service level agreement, I was told.

When I grew so frustrated I threatened to take my business elwhere, Host Department offered to my my account and my files to antoher server. This would take two days, I was promised. (????) Well, five days later I was still being moved, and therefore still out of business. This time I was told I had no recourse because I had requested the move ( because of all the so called "server problems" I was experiencing which put me out of business )

Host department isnt good enough to be called "second rate" They are a patheticly klewless operation that is not deserving of any consideration whatsoever.

Save your money. And your sanity. And your business. Use a real provider, which Host Department is NOT.

There was a poll about hostdepartment services on WHT, might be interesting, there are also quite a lot of other threads about them on WHT.
I'm with ahosting.biz and I love these guys for their responsive support and low pricing. BTW, do you need any special features?
