I've been through 3 webhosts in the past several months I run a small internet dating service that I'm trying to grow and it's becoming very difficult to do so. When I think I've found a reliable webhost my site gets either suspended for using to many system resources or their server dies. It's complete crap and I'm constantly in a state of searching trying to find a server. It really really sucks. It's really bad for business. It makes my business look unreliable and me personally unprofessional.

I begining to find out cheaper is not better. I need a webhost that's less then $10 per month. That has a 99.8% guaranteed uptime or more. That has superb technical support, that uses Linux, cpanel, PHP.

I'm really sick of it.

Finding the right host can be tricky, considering there are so many bad ones out there. And your right, cheaper is in no way better. If you want good service, your going to have to pay for it.

Keep searching and ask around, many people can give you reviews of hosting companies based on personal experience, and that is what you need to start with. Once you narrow your search down, try contacting potential hosts with some basic question to check response time as well as knowledge. Make sure the host you want to go with has a money back guarentee, that way you can get out if things go awry.

Good luck in your search.

I sympathise with you. There's noting worse that getting a web site up and rolling and then you run into hosting problems. Put's a real damper on the project and your hard time spent on it.

You need a host that not only is reliable but accountable.

Hey, if you go over your bandwith limit it's not fair to just shut someones web site down!
I'd call or e-mail you and let you know what's happening.

I offer Linux hosting and Cpanel with first class support for under 10 bucks a month and can even put you on a server in the USA.

they con't have cpanel, I was used to it
they use OPS a custm built control panel, it's not so "nice looking" as cpanel but surely more powerful

I won't be taking anyone's advice from this forum again. Thanks to Revolution up there. I don't know his story but that http://formulx.com web hosting company ended up being a complete jip. I've disputed the payment I made through paypal. Thankfully I was smart enough to only pay $6.50. I normally pay annually.

I got contacted by the site owner, supposively the site had a script problem that didn't automatically setup everything. He got everything setup manually however. I like the hosting service, it's fast and has a lot of features not usually available for the prices he charges. I however am having trouble with my PHP dating service software sending emails to new members after they join. I can't figure out the problem. I think I'm going to go back to Godaddy.

It's not my requirements, it's what the software I'm using requires. I'm running a online dating service. The software seems very picky about server configurations. If a server isn't configured just a certain way the software doesn't run correctly. The software I'm using is PHP MatchMaker 2.5.

I've tried approximately 4 or 5 different web hosts. My first Godaddy.com did everything really well except for the most important part, no matter what I tried it just wouldn't automatically process the payments through the Paypal IPN the software uses (all other servers since has).

The next server I had ace-host was great but my account ended up getting suspended for using to many system resources aka. processing power.

The third host I used, Globat.com worked great in every respect except for the fact it took nearly a minute for member profiles to load. All other sites the profiles loaded nearly immediately.

The fourth host I chose was formulx.com. My experience with them started off rocky but the owner took care of the problem. I love the hosting and speed. The only problem with this one is, for some reason the server won't send emails. Prospective members enter a username and email address. The software then generates the password and emails it to them. However for whatever reason this site isn't doing that. So basically I've had many people join in the past few days and they never get the password to login and create a profile. Which means I've lost a lot of money.

I'm now looking for another server. I want cpanel.
