Hey, first time posting in a long time

I'm looking for a web host for no more than about £5 ($8) a month, I can maybe stretch to £6 (about $9.50)

It needs the following specifications:
- Over 25GB disk space (preferrably unlimited)
- A decent amount of bandwidth (again, preferrably unlimited)
- More than 15 MySQL databases
- PHP 5
- Over 20 email accounts (with forwarders and auto-responders)
- cPanel
- Shared SSL
- .htaccess
- Over 5 subdomains
- Google adwords credits (optional but preferred)
- Free domain transfer

I've found a few but was wondering if there's any for £5 or £6 that doesn't mean you have to commit to a 3 year plan. I would prefer a one year plan for that amount

Thanks for reading, any help is appreciated.

You can get those specifications easily with a lot of hosts but what you need to do is read some reviews and make sure the host you choose has BBB accreditation.

Also, TRY out the host with a 30 day money back trial so you know what you are signing and committing to. That is my recommendation.

Hello,

There are plenty of hosts that meet your requirements and your budget is very good.

I'd be really carfull with choosing an unlimited provider though because it's not possible to promise such a plan. That doesn't mean that every unlimited provider is bad but it certainly increases the chance that the server will be slower because everyone on that server won't know what the limits really are. It's also worth mentioning that the average website uses under 200MB Disk Space and 2GB Bandwidth but of course your website will vary.

Out of interest why would you want to transfer your domain? It's quite an annoying process to transfer a domain name and web hosts will genuinely charge a higher price than a domain registrar but the product won't change from host to host. If your current domain registrar allows you to change the name servers then you'll be able to use it with any web hosting account without the need to transfer it.

Have you taken a look in the web hosting offers marketplace?

Jack

Yes that would be true if that's what this person was actually expecting to use but the reason why people list so many features is because that's what the majority of hosts are 'advertising', I say advertising because we all know there is no such thing as unlimited.

Let's look at the obvious. HostGator meet this persons requirements so technically his budget is reasonable for his requirements as far as offers advertised goes. I wouldn't call HostGator a 'bedroom provider'.

Given the experience I have had with clients on HostGator, a "back bedroom" provider might avtually be preferable!

I host my main site with HostGator because I started with a reseller account and didn't see the need to move my main site after I started leasing my first server. My experience has been the opposite. Their support is simply amazing and considering their size I have found the quality and speed of their servers to be amazing. However my site is on one of their reseller servers, while they still probably oversell I have read that they are generally better quality than their shared servers.

I've moved plenty of hosts from Godaddy and in comparison I would put HostGator pretty high up on the list.

I see no point in doing that. The BBB is just a company, with its own interests at heart. It can't hurt to use BBB ratings on companies as a guide, but not more than that.

You will always be limited to a certain CPU/memory/concurrent Mysql connections/inodes etc, so while you won't have an explicit limit on space and bandwidth, you will have an implied one.

Let's just say that that most hosts don't expect you to use 25GB of data transfer on their <$10 shared hosting accounts. Some might let you do it though.

What I'm saying is, be aware of what it is you're buying. Read the TOS.

I have to agree to that. Though one can find worse than Godaddy too.

I assume you are looking for the web hosting service in UK? What about US? Would you consider that?

The BBB is a very reputable company. I've ordered stuff before and a company was trying to jip me off and the BBB made them refund me.

How did they "make them"? Other than using their rating system as a weapon, they can not do anything against a company, or force it do anything.

I use JustHost and must say they are amazing for the price. They have great features for very low prices, which can go even lower depending on how many months you purchase

Yes, HostGator is very popular in term of providing unlimited hosting in cheap price then why not HostGator only?

Use hostpapa.ca

they offer everything you need and it's an unlimited service too. I've got dozens of domains and MySQL databases running from mine. No hiccups at all.
