what is the meaning of unlimited?

many hosting website often say unlimited disk space and bandwidth,but anything is unlimited,i dont understand the meaning of unlimited,who can
explain it for me?

Unlimited for hosting companies usually means "We'll charge (or suspend) you for going over some limit that we won't tell you, but we'll know when you exceed it!

Nothing is unlimited.
It's just something to advertise with to get new customers.
Unlimited can also mean: overselling.

Right, nothing is unlimited.
Also, I don't think unlimited has real meanings, all the hosting companies have controls on CPU time used. If you exceeded, sites would be disabled from accessing for a period of time. All unlimiteds are limited by this.

There are some hosting providers who provide unlimited disk space and bandwidth with there Highest Hosting Plan.

We provide virtually unlimited disk space and bandwidth for our customers. However, we do not offer unlimited CPU usage.

If customer does not host copyrighted files and does not abuse server (by sending phishing emails, for example), his account NEVER gets suspended.

We have customers who use hundreds of GB of space without any problems. If we run out of space, we just mount new disk drive on server. New disk drives are pretty cheap today.

Unlimited means that host sets no limits. For example an unlimited webspace is when you are offered certain amount of space which can be exceeded as soon as you need without extra charge.

"Unlimited" was introduced first by Yahoo. It is a marketing trick that worked for many overselling web hosting providers. I would byte "unlimited" when it comes to data transfer, because there is a certain limit of transfer that any web hosting account (Shared, VPS, Dedicated) could handle. But when it comes to disc space it is not serious to say "unlimited".

Unlimited was around way before Yahoo started to offer it (which was 1-2 years ago).

As for unlimited, look at the prices of dedicated servers, and think what you can expect for your $5-10, in the best scenario. This should keep you safe enough.

why them say like this,many customer before purchasing will ask this question,so boring,so if the unlimited just trick,i hope hosting company can abandon this expression.

i can exceed limitied resourses ,if i doit,my account will be ban or suspend,but how much of the CPU time used i can take,wheather diverse hosting company is different.

Unlimited means: To go on forever, in paraell like as in the universe has unlimited size to it. You will not get that at ANY webhosting company. Not unless they are larger than life itself, and I mean after the BIG BANG.

I'm sorry to say, but you are not right. For example, there are no space/bandwidth limits for our customers. We just mount new disk drives if we need more space, it's that simple. No one of our customers has exceeded any limit...

when we exceed the resourse,hosting company will ban you account and ask you to see the term of customer service ,but the term always stand for the profit of company
