That's the truth which some wouldn't like to believe and still hopes that their providers would be true to their word as to unlimited is concern. It's funny though how they kept on getting away with that kind of promotion... For short there's really nothing unlimited. Everything has a limit. And when some host keeps on saying that they provide unlimited blabla.. they simply are lying.. So better be careful than sorry...

Well in term of web space providing there is storage capacity which web hosting provider’s generally say its unlimited but in actual terms it is limited. Whatever the space they provide to the costumer at the time of exceeding it they ask costumer to purchase space on server or to run their own server.
True as few ones said nothing is free…. For good quality u need to pay.

so many hosting company say like that ,i dont know why,so puzzled,maybe they should change it .

It's there so it sounds like a wonderful bargain.

In real there is nothing like unlimited. Here resource usage is limited in terms of unlimited. If you cross this barrier, then your site will be immediately suspended from the server. It is nothing but one type of marketing.

I assume they will not be suspensed but they will be asked to move to another web hosting plan (upgrade )

Well that’s a way of marketing its correct but I never seen any company doing suspended the account of the costumer bcoz of exceeding the space. Company never wants to lose their customers. They will simply ask you to upgrade your plan…

yeah,in fact,hosting also would like to supply unlimited hosting,but realistic condition doesnt alllow.and seldom hear the customer complain the account bannd becoz exceed resourse.so maybe it is nothing with limited,so set your heart at rest.

They do charge and put limits on certain amount of consumption of service at the same time. It is done for advertisement purpose

if the PV of your website is not very large,the "unlimited "hosting is enough to use,if you are so satisfied with this description,you can choose suitable hosting package.for example dedicated hosting

"unlimited" is nothing more than a sales gimmick. As other have said nothing is unlimited, if it were Google would be using HostGators $7/month plan for Youtube of course they spend over $3,000,000 a month on bandwidth costs.

Hosting companies get away with this because they will say something like this in their acceptable usage policy

"no account can use more than 5% of the servers resources at any one time"

This makes it physically impossible to use any huge amount of Disk Space/Bandwidth.

It makes me sick that Trade Standards have not ban this. I wrote an article on this here:

They say they are but there certainly not. Although they do offer nice resources nothing is unlimited.

Some will flat define it for you, with links throughout their signup page and file managers. For example:
