I have been reviewing a few hosting companies and wondering what is below the surface. Sure, I could go with hostgator, bluehost, servage, godaddy...etc but I have also noticed a lot of posters with webhosting companies in their signatures.
I also saw a post from The-Pixel about thehosted.com (saying that it was reliable and he had been with them for a while) and their smallest package is about $2 a month for 500mb space 5000mb transfer. I am considering going with this. Before I make a decision are there any more notable cheap, yet reliable webhosts out there?
By reliable I mean 99%+ uptime with good customer service. I'm looking to spend anywhere from $2-5 month on a shared hosting plan.

Hello!
I assume the posters with links in the signatures to the web hosting companies are representative of web hosting companies.
As for your requirements I assume you need to specify what you need and understand that before starting doing the search

Hi,
Please consider all the factors before choosing the hosting company rather than only price for your domain..like support, server uptime, company record, and user reviews for the hosting...

I understand that I should review everything about a webhost (which is why I am here asking for suggestions)
I am doing a website using Joomla (PHP and MySQL) and would also like to eventually get a newsletter out (will need autoresponders and mailing lists) as far as parked domains.. I only have 1 right now but would like to find a host that allows more than that in case I ever decide to expand or start multiple websites.
So in summary I am looking for a host that has...
2+ GB disk space
50GB+ Transfer (roughly, just to make sure I don't exceed that)
PHP / MySQL supported
Autoresponders and mailing lists
at least 5 parked domains
Does anyone have experience with deltawebhosting.com? They have 500mb disk, 50gb transfer for $3/month recurring. I'll have to look up some review on them.

Based on your requirements and wanting to stay below 5 a month, Host Gator is reliable and cheap, but you may have to sign up for a few years in order to get your monthly price that low.

Yea. I actually decided to go with godaddy. I got 3 months of hosting with plenty of room and all of the features I needed with a coupon code for $11 (ends up being about $3.66/month). Not a bad deal if you ask me.

Good luck with them. I hope you will find them good although I have seen bad threads about their web hosting services not about domain names

Wish you the very best with the new provider. Hope you will enjoy the hosting experience with them. One's experience may be different from others and that is also according to your requirements. Update us with your experience in future.

There are alot of web hosting companies online that offer 'cheap' and reliable shared web hosting. The thing with most of these companies you have to watch out for is their amount of overselling (allowing to many websites to be on a server which will allow for a slow load time and can result in other issues).
Remember Google is your friend. Type somethign as basic as "Cheap Shared Web Hosting" ( http://www.google.com/#hl=en&q=cheap...fp=flbC24gbdiA) can provide you with alot of information you otherwise would have been without. I hope I've been helpful and best of luck to you on your search for a web hosting company.

I wish you all the best with GoDaddy and please keep us updated on the level of service / quality you are experiencing. Its a great way to show others like you what kind of company GoDaddy really is. Best of luck!

I would personally stay away from hosts that offer "unlimited". Just check to see if their packages are real. If they offer a reasonable amount of disk space and monthly bandwidth, and if you believe they are reliable and honest, go for it no matter if it is a famous host or not.

No I did not mean it like that but the best way to review a company is to have a service with them first hand. I just hope that 'WebTraffic' can help others out with their experience (good or bad).

Absolutely. I assume only your own feelings will give you imagination what kind of provider they are.

Exactly! Sometimes as much as we might hate it the best way to learn about a web hosting company its to take the risk and put your faith in them. You live and you learn that's life same motto applies online as it does offline.

Cheap and reliable are not closly associated. Don't expect more then you should get. Choose a host that is affordable.

I agree with you fully. But if web hosting is expensive that doesn't mean that is good one.

Even when you pay $2 - $5, you will still have banners...It's just a come-on...If you need a shared hosting account why not go with a a little $ more and get something 'out-side' these over-rated hosting companies...You will be guaranteed not to have an ad on your site, and even have all the php features enabled that most of these sites can't (or don't know how to offer). I know your probably wanting to know who exactly I am talking about, and I don't care to share my old provider (cause I am website-less), but I will simply say, try a one that you have not listed. I guess you can try thehosted.com. But the others, they will all throw a banner on your page, eventually, and you will be hounded to pay more for their service or deal with ads on your site.
Good luck

I would not recommend Godaddy to anyone because of the overselling. Also watch out for any large prepayment requirement in the future.
