I have my website with 300-400 daily traffic. Now I am using shared hostng Plan and wants to change my hosting plan to VPS. Also in future I will shift to Dedicated hosting. I heard Rackforce is best for VPS & dedicated hosting. but no previous experience with them.

So please suggest me that should I go with them or any other hosting provide better than Rackforce for VPS & dedicated hosting?

I suppose tha5t you do have some of the solution already and that one do not suit it anymore. Would you mind shoing the usages you are currently have? It seems that you will be able to continue on the shared account with such amounts of traffic

If you need VPS I assume that you can start your research from the marketplace on this forum. And I agree. Firstly make sure that you need VPS.

Personally, I'll recommend Slicehost. Quite of few of my friends use it, and they like it quite a bit.
There's even a server management app for the iPhone.

I'm in the process of switching from JVDS to Slicehost right now. For the record, I've had good service with JVDS.

With only 300-400 visitors per day it is not worth the money upgrading to a VPS. It is much more cost effective to just a high end package of shared hosting

[edit] I've just checked your Alexa ranking on the two sites in your signature and I would deffinatly recommend a high end shared hosting package from where you could host both sites. I use UKHost4U which are very good or you could go for something a bit higher like (mt)

I'm going to disagree with xuroq. That number of users can definitely support going with a VPS.
Plans start at $25/month with JVDS and $20/month with Slicehost. 300-400 visitors a month should get you $30-$60 from someone like textlink-ads.

Besides, there are other reasons to go with a VPS.
You own your instance: you can log in as root, you can install any version of any software you want. You can experiment.

Like cPanel, install it. Hate cPanel, install an alternative.

You can learn quite a bit about managing a server.

You have absolutely no limits on the number of hostnames, email addresses, login accounts, etc.

The downside of course is, you have to manage everything. If something goes wrong, you'll only have yourself to blame. You are your own tech support.

Then again, how responsive do you think a provider is going to be on some cheap $5/month plan? They lose money the instant they answer the phone. Just reading your email about a problem costs them more than you are paying them. Good service just isn't economically feasible for a company on really cheap plans.

Just my add: In the case you install Cpanel be sure that will need up to 128MB of the RAM. So just add that to your current requirements for RAM

Inmotion host is good at VPS, and StartLogic is not bad as well

I want to purchase a server of my own and start a web hosting company. Somehow I got the configuration of the server. The problem now is how can I register the domain name. what is cpanel is that enough for registering domain name and hosting websites? Is there anyother procdure that i should follow?

I do not know who is the best, but to my mind such companies as photonvps.com and globaltap.com are worth of attention as the companies offering the respectively the cheapest and one of the most stable and professional VPS.

If you are in the dedicated server world centsi.com and serverbeach.com are3 recommended. They are specializeted on the dedicated servers and have very skilled stuff.

How much resources are you using now? What scripts are you running?
If you decide to go for vps, will there be any preference for control panel?
How technically astute are you? Will you need server administration or rely on yourself? I guess this is all essential to know before recommending you any company.
