Hi

I am based in the UK and was trying to decide whether it is better to register a .com domain or a .co.uk domain.

Any thoughts or comments much appreciated.

Me personally I like .com better a its more standard and easier to remember especially for people who dont use the internet alot. But its realy up to you. But if it was me I would use .com

If you are planning on reaching visitors worldwide, I'd say use .com. But if your site is mainly UK focused I'd say use .co.uk. You could register both and have one domain name pointing to the other.

I agree with Find-A-Web-Host.com that if you are going to targeting your site for local then a .co.uk is definately the way to go.

If you target UK market, and choose a .com domain, you may be actually losing customers. So be wary.

I say *.com. Most people, if they don't know the name of a site, automatically think *.com if they don't know the extension. Like, for example, if you knew a site was called Google, you'd most likley try Google.com before *.net or *.co.uk, in your case.

In my experience .com is more memorable, it roles of the tongue easier, so unless your site is very very localised I'd go for .com... or alternativly to avoid any confusment... get both, if you can afford .com you can affor .co.uk aswell, they're pennies!
