I am looking for a good shared or vps web hosting that fall on my range of budget, under $50 a month. Do you know any good hosting company out there? please let me know.

There are many web hosting company's and you can always find
bad and positive comments/reviews about them and i think there is no
such a thing as the best in my view because many people have their
own experience with the particular hosting company some of them
were happy and said "its one of the best" and some of them say
"be aware !!" but you should always google the company
For example "bluehost sucks" and you can always find bad reviews ON ANY HOST!!!. Another thing i want to point out is that most of the "top 10 hosting"
reviews sites are advertising for money on their site that means they can put useless web hosting company on the top 1 just because they paid them!.

I am currently planing to order a shared web hosting and then when
my site gets popular i will move to VPS hosting because i heard if your site is using 10% of the server resources and/or 10% of the server's CPU. If this becomes necessary you will have to upgrade to dedicated or vps OTHERWISE you get suspended !

Doing your research is always important, however you are correct. Relying on the experience of others isn't going to cut it.

Also, the 10% issue really depends on the host. However, you must remember that all hosts are trying to keep a safe and fast environment. Naturally, you would be suspended if your account jeopardizes this.

I believe that you have very solid budget for the solid solution. Make sure you do understand what you need and do your own research as suggested

If you have information about the usages from the previous place you can look at them and make sure what you need for now. Getting started with VPS might be not good idea at all

where are you based?

tadisaus2, if can give more details about your future project, scripts you will need, disk space and bandwidth requirements, it'll make easier to offer you a plan to meet your specific issues, as the budget you have pointed out isn't really informative, you may find different plans within this price range.

I'm sure that nowadays that is not so important where you are hosted. That should be stable company with fast network

Also you might ask that they have multiple internet connections from multiple ISP's so that wherever your client tries to access the websites it will have good speed.

If we're talking about managed VPS, I'd be looking at providers such as liquidweb, servint, wiredtree, futurehosting, knownhost, about which I've read positive stuff on forums. You should do your own research on them though, and possibly add others to your list as well.

A VPS at 50$ is a month is an Adequate budget in many case however there are cases where Hosting companies actually rigs Up the cost by 2 fold and ever 3

Among the companes I used Apthost and Hostingsource are having best VPS value, IMHO. However I am not a client anymore, but still I do not think something has changed since the time I was. The companies are offering frequent and prfitable discounts, and shared hosting from them is also reasonable to get.

Is it about dating websites, and what kind of virtualization technology do you want to use?

For $50 per month you will be able to find dedicated server at all and in this case you need to understand how technically build that would be.

I have read good reviews on SoftLayer's VPS hosting services. Just browse around for reviews.

Outline your disk space and bandwidth requirements and ask for a free month, may be a good idea before finally deciding on a provider.

I have been using TSO host for quite some time now and have not had any kind of issues. They use clustered hosting & are quite affordable.

I use Godaddy shared hosting for my forums ( only around 500 members ) and So far I haven't got any trouble at all. Since you are willing to spend up to 50$ I think you can go for a VPS.
