@fullhouse we are talking about servers not hosting. free hosting is the worst. Ad supported and loads of spammers taking the server usage. I did an experiment with 000webhost.com to see how long itll take before i got chucked off. A week later i got suspended no reason and they never replied
@cnahost yes ive tried them. Sadly they dont accept paypal

Yes freehosting is the worst don't go there I cannot even comprehend how the servers are paid for, for anyone who offers that i am sorry but again the maths doesn't fit, and even if you do your rules are too tight that no person having a website can rely on the services.

Regarding what fiveacehosting put on the 2nd page, I know where your coming from i really do and even now after 10 yrs of hard work im not breaking even from the hosting point of view and taking any lead I can, but what i understand and is commendable in my opinion your willing to do anything to put bread on the table for your family, although i live on my own in a flat i rent monthly i would do anything to keep my servers afloat for my clients which is why my design sustains my servers, i would even take a paper job if it helped which you should do just to feed your family and keep your server running if you feel that way.

I have said in the past i have been advertising in a huge uk magazine and that alone costs me £400/pcm (800usd/pcm) and i have done that for 5-6 months, and then i have other advertising and ventures which cost me which is a lot more than what you have put in to the hosting business.

Just because you have put it in, it doesn't mean you will get that out thats business unfortunately your best way to do it is go locally and advertise your services rather than thinking big, after all a person discussing it 1st hand will have a greater possibility giving you the money to host their site or design their site for them. I think you need to come across as not needy as you are then you should be ok.

Back on topic do a google search go to ebay sell servers you have found which are cheap but add some profit in there for you and a offer of maintenance so you could get unmaintained servers and maintain them, you can go directly to the companies and say if i bought x servers from you can you give me x discount, remember the times maybe bad for you but are also bad for us all so can really companies afford to put their pride in the way and say sorry we can't, so these times can work for your advantage, just think positive .

thats good to hear, keep at it and see if you can make 4 become 10, 10 to become 20 etc but keep in mind to keep supporting the clients and helping where required don't leave them in the lurch.

You can also just rent directly from a datacenter. I would recommend The Planet. ALOT of big name hosting companies use it. *cough* HostGator*. http://www.theplanet.com.
At least for a dedi. The only bad part is that it doesn't have cPanel installed.

I think that is not correct consider dedicated server reselling from this point of view. Cpanel is not the main part of the dedicated server IMO.

easiest way is to do as others have reffered to.

Find a website with good prices. Do your research on that company (after all, you dont want your name going down in flames from another companies crappy hardware)

If they charge $100/mo. Ok, PayPal charges what? 3% in fee's? So now your at $103/mo to break even. So sell it for $125/mo on your site. When someone orders it, place the order with the other company.

Now, call me a moron if you wish. I've been around the block a time or two.

I dont think you make enough money to afford to stay at home and run a business.

Your downfalls are this.

1. They will know your reselling if you buy from another company.
2. You cant spell.
3. See number 2.

Your website, which I have not seen yet. If you designed it, id assume it'd be full of misspellings.

Work on your ethics, and your "people skills" before you go and resell dedicated servers.

Before you offer any kind of dedicated server service, I'd say that you have to look into what other providers are offering. Do they provide managed or unmanaged services, and for how much?

One of the key elements in the business is deciding on your scope of support. If you don't have the time or the effort to commit to a managed hosting product, then take a look into the pricing of unmanaged servers and see what you can offer.

I'm going to say this quite clearly - most large companies won't invite you into their reseller scheme (take a look at Softlayer as an example) unless you go and:-

a) Make a certain number of sales a month
b) Use a certain number of services or spend more than a set amount with them each month
c) Prove that you will be capable of independently offering services to your clients

I've used and paid for both Dedicated Servers and VPS products before, and I'm a demanding customer. Be careful - think about what you will be able to provide, try your best to provide it, and focus on being professional.

After you have considered this, then you should know what you want to offer to your clients. It is at this point that you can discuss the possibilities with server providers to see what deals they may be able to make available to you.

I wish you the very best of luck with your venture.

I suppose that if you are interested in starting dedicated server reselling you need to know demand for this kind of web hosting services. If there are no demand that is risk
