They are not expensive - they are reasonable I would say. I assuming they are having lots of daily signups.

I used hostgator for about a month before I decided to check out Servage.net. Not because I didnt like HG, but because servage was cheaper.

This turned out to be a big mistake though. With servage, the uptime was terrible and costed me quite a few adsense dollars..

Now I'm back to HG, and I could not be happier. Well, except from the Rails support. You only get to use Rails through cgi (bad thing). But for PHP applications, HG is perfect.

Other cool HG facts:
- You get SSH access on all plans (even shared plans) if you ask for it.
- You can use SVN to update your sites.

I've been using godaddy for a few years now, but I've been considering a switch after reading all the great < removed > Godaddy has been great, I just don't like their control panel and no hostgator is not expensive.

Yes when your prices are decptive like that it just pisses me off. If it said for 12 month purchase than it would be fine but they don't.
