You really don't want to use a free host unless its for a hobby site of some sort. They get indexed poorly, have ads that aren't yours on them, limited functionality and control panel features.

freewebspace.net/forums and freewht.com are two forums that might prove to be of help.

Your not going to find a free host thats really that great, and if it is good, it probably won't be for too long.

Have you considered MySpace or a blog hosting service?
It's been a while since I have used free hosting.
ByetHost offers pretty good hosting for free. They will place an adsense banner on the site, and as with any free host, php safe mode is turned on by default which will render some scripts as unusable on their hosting.
I've not tried 000WebHosts, but you may give them a try.
If you don't need php functionality, 50Webs offers very reliable hosting. It's not much, but it always seems to be there and is more than I can say for some paid hosting.
I have a free hosting service at http://0pwh.com . This is nothing more than a ByetHost reseller account and there is an Amazon ad placed on pages.
You can also get dollar hosting. OxyHosts offers a good dollar hosting plan. You can check out a list of budget hosts here: http://5ag.net
Sorry that I'm not of any more help, but it has been a while since I have used free hosting and I don't want to recommend anybody unless I am current with their services.

You get what you pay for. I wouldn't recommend getting a free host even if it was a hobby or not. I've had hosting with http://www.thehosted.com for years now and I recommend them to anyone that has a budget but, doesn't want quality to suffer.

My personal experience proves that there isn`t any good free host. You will always have problems with free host. You know, it`s better to use paid hosting!

You can't be serious ... there is obviously a few good ones out there. Even us, owners of paid hosting companies, would have to admit that :P. Find the however, may prove to be a challenge..

Free hosting can't be good IMO. Downtime is their priority.

Obviously the voice of experience, or lack thereof.
I don't particularly like cliches because there is no thinking required to use them.
Someone asked a legitimate question and deserves a legitimate reply back; not something you read off the door of a bathroom stall.
The are good free hosts, and bad paid hosts; and vice versa. You are generally, but not always, going to get more and better service from a paid host; and we're not even considering anything beyond shared hosting in this equation. If someone wants a simple webpage and doesn't need any bells and whistles, then why should they pay for hosting if a free host will give them what they need?
I started with free hosting, and even still have some sites on free hosting. I moved to paid hosting both as my needs in hosting grew well beyond what free hosting offered and my own personal economy improved.
Someone looking for an answer deserves an answer, and not bathroom cliches from people who refuse to think for themselves. We all started somewhere and that's all that bourney is asking for.

with myspace, you can do a music profile which might be something you are looking at. other than that, you can use a Squidoo lens or HubPages which will do the job. or for free host, you can try http://www.joolo.com/
