Needing a recommendation for a free host

Hi all,

I have created a very small website to post pictures of my wedding. (HTML and CSS) Does anyone have a good website hosting company (free:-) that I could use please ?

I think you'd be better to use cheap hosting for your purposes. Say WebHostGiant.com offers their services starting at $2.79 per month. Think you'll have enough features to satisfy your needs.

For free hosting, try looking over at freewht.com and freewebspace.net/forums.

For such simple needs, virtually any host would do fine, provided it knows how to keep its servers running smoothly. For paid hosting, should you ever consider it, based on personal experience I can suggest Hostgator, but truth is you could find smaller packages at a lower price.

If you plan to add more than wedding pictures to your site (life doesn't end with the wedding, and many other important events will come), I suggest you use a gallery software (see opensourcecms.com for a list of the more popular ones) and possibly a bigger hosting package (depending on how many pictures you plan to add, and their resolution, space usage can grow significantly).

I think you would be fine with free hosting. A small, personal site doesn't require a particularly spectacular setup. I had a pretty good experience with awardspace.com. To be fair, it was quite a while ago and at the time I didn't really know what I was doing. But you may want to check it out. It's not like you are going to have daily updates on your wedding pictures, unless of course you intend to get married once a day!

It doesn't sound like you need to be too discriminating. It's a basic project, just make sure your host isn't ad-supported and doesn't have too many bad reviews then go for it.
