No, I'm on a linux server, i think you might want to add a poll to the thread to see the number of people who use windows hosting.

Personally, I wouldn't trust any server that isn't *nix based. Windows has so many security and performance flaws it's unreal.

Never use Linux. Way too expensive. With Windows, we need people who can use a mouse. With *nix, we need people who are expert at "rm ls -al grep pico telnet" and so on. Considering labor as the most expensive part of any enterprise, which of the following looks more expensive?

No. I run a few Wordpress blogs and feel that PHP/MySQL works a lot better under Apache/Linux.

windows server has got some room in enterprise hosting where they have asp.net application etc. For shared hosting and small projects, PHP/Linux is cost effective.

John, you are just unjust on that one !
Linux can look at anything you want, from XP to OSX, with similar tools.
Just because you need a keyboard rather than a mouse don't make it less better.

In the end, good sysadmins are what makes the difference.
A crappy sysadmin will provide you no good, be it on OSx, linux, bsd, solaris or win2k3

And frankly, you need more to know the network basis than those command line.
It's like complaining that you must learn to read a book, when it's so easy and faster to play an audio book.

guys, if you need shared hosting you need Unix.
Only in case you need support for (ASP, .NET. etc.) you need Windows.

Isn't his point was that employees are (understandably) more comfortable on the Windows system, not that it is worse* because of the keyboard? I could be wrong..
