I'm having serious problems with my hosting nameservers at the moment - some of my customers can access their sites and others can't - it seems to depend on their ISP. I also had problems accessing my own site but I changed my router's nameservers to openDNS ones and it's worked since.

My nameservers are:

NS1.whymwebhosting.co.uk (92.48.68.125)
NS2.whymwebhosting.co.uk (92.48.68.126)

Is there anyone here that could help me out? I really want to get this fixed ASAP for my customers sakes.

Dan

Hi Dan,

Well the nameserves resolve currently and so reverse DNS is not a problem... I think you should be looking at your server setup.. firewall configuration... take a browse through IPTABLES on the server /whatever firewall you use.

You can do some further digging though... ask someone who cant access your site to do the following tests and copy and paste the results here...

1. Command prompt -> tracert 92.48.68.125
2. Command prompt -> nslookup whymwebhosting.co.uk

Let us know and I'm sure we can figure this out.

All the best

Your web site which is hosted on your servers I believe is accessible for me. And that might point that this is ISP related problem, because if you had troubles with DNS you would have had it with all websites, haven't you?

Thanks - I think I'll try doing that. I believe the problem is with certain ISPs resolving my nameservers, so maybe it's a setting or something that some ISPs can understand/resolve and others can't.

Thanks for your help anyway,
Dan

I think this is your problem

NS1.whymwebhosting.co.uk (92.48.68.125)
and
125.68.48.92.in-addr.arpa IN PTR server.whymhost.co.uk

Your Network and NS configurations are using the same IP but
different domains and that may cause conflict

Your server.whymhost.co.uk must have its own IP, gateway and mask and
NS (name server) must have its own. Some ISP may have problems to resolve PTR record and will give you hard time

Actually, I think the problem is more likely to be this: http://webwhois.nic.uk/cgi-bin/whois...bhosting.co.uk

You have 2 nameservers set there which are not responding authoritatively for your domain (whymwebhosting.co.uk): ns43.eukdns.com / ns44.eukdns.com

I would recommend removing those 2 nameservers, waiting for DNS propagation/caching to clear up, and see how things go; I'm pretty confident it will solve your problems.

Incidentally, how come you're posting this question on a forum rather than asking your provider for pointers (eukhost I presume)?

Thanks for that information - I'll give it a go.

I contacted eukhost about the issue and they couldn't find a problem with it - their support are sometimes a bit lacking to be honest (I'm fairly sure most of them are from India because they often don't understand what you're saying).

I am actually thinking about moving to a different VPS provider in the near future as I'm not very happy with the service I'm receiving at the moment.

Anyway thanks again,
Dan

I have the same problem sometime ago, I report it to my hosting company, but the problem later resolved by itself. I think it have something to do with the server that host the site.

I believe that looked like that. I think that sometimes web hosting company and ISP must meet and keep relationships alive
