I am looking for a webhost. My site will be for a Mixed Martial Arts event. I will most likely build it with PHP and a mySQL database.

Who hosts your site? Who do you suggest?

My concerns are price, reliability, and features.

Aaric, try Sectorlink. I've been with them 6 years, I think another couple of people here use them (probably based on my neverending yapping about how good it is), and they've been about as top-notch a host as can be expected. My questions actually get answered, they work with me on problems, and they actually get it. If you ask a non-standard question, they won't cram a stock answer from a training binder down your throat, and they'll even answer it!

Hostgator.com one of the best shared web hosting provider. I have ben hosted proxy with Santrex.net. they seems have PHP and mysql and ordinary web hosting. As for my proxy - I'm currently happy with them.

Hostgator are good if your on a budget and dont have active sites.. for sites with a farily decent activity base I found they arent so good.. they moved me own very fast because of cpu usage... tried to sell me a $200 dedicated from a $15 reseller.. this was years and years back now though.

$10 hosting will give $10 worth of CPU usage, which ends up being on the small side of things (you're sharing the server with a couple hundreds other customers). For my own sites, their service has been just fine.

To really point the OP to a hosting solution and provider, we'd need to know more about the expected usage. The traffic (page views per day) would be of help.

Me too. I only have been with them for just 4-7 days. They suspended my account due to "CPU Usage". My god, i though they're reliable based on other people's feedback.

They are. Obviously you cant expect to host a resource hungry site on a $7 shared host. For small to reasonable sized site, they offer excellent service and good value for your money.

Sometimes it takes quite long period of time for people to find decent one wen hosting provider. If the company you with satisfy your partner that doesn't men that will satisfy you.

I have to agree on this.
host gator is not good for high bw site.
I haven t launch but my site is extremely slow.
any other recommendations?
