For me personally.. it is entirely possible I will have more than 1 site - maybe one personal, the other professional.
Cool, we're getting somewhere now

So how can we get this resolved for you LadynRed? How about either...

1. Between us we suggest some decent hosts for you
2. You put together a shortlist and we'll comment

That's not necessarily true. Anyone who has ever dealt with iPowerWeb and tried to get a pro-rated refund will know what I'm talking about.

The problem is in the delivery of the guarantee. Some hosts are reputable and do it right away. Some hosts make you sweat and wait and try to cite portions of their ToS that have nothing to do with the problem. Some hosts claim it's not even in their ToS (e.g. iPowerWeb) to give pro-rated refunds after 30 days, when it's in plain English on their ToS.

Generally speaking, it's the hosts that oversell their plans that tend to be the worst at refunding monies, but that's a personal guideline, not a hard and fast rule.

How about #1, you guys are more in-tune with this than I am. We host our own sites at work, so I don't have to deal with this.

The last site I did outside of work is hosted on GoDaddy, and I/they have zero complaints with the site hosted there.

I'll bite.

www.sectorlink.com <--- not the cheapest host out there, but you know what a picky bugger I am when it comes to things like this, and I've been with these guys for nearly 6 years now. 6 years! That's 72 Hosting Years!

As sad as this sounds, I can't think of another good one. Every other host I've used in some capacity has been subpar in terms of service, merged with another company, or is out of business.

A second bite...

www.unitedhosting.com as I previously mentioned.

www.clook.us - their US site is offline pending a new one but I believe they are taking orders for US hosting, see www.clook.co.uk for specs. I use their UK servers as previously mentioned, best ask in the forums about US hosting.

Webhostingbuzz.com - they are great for reseller web hosting needs. I have heard a lot. If you want to start reselling Webhostingbuzz.com would be one of the best options.

I'm also trying to find a decent hosting company, this one looks good, but offers a lot of features, and then is when later the quality fails.. I don't know about them.. if is a very well known company like Bluehost or IXWebHosting.. it will be overseling a lot because of the features.. and then the problems.. so I want to know if they oversell or not.

They clearly oversell. Whether the servers are overloaded, and how much of what they offer you can expect to be able to use, only customer reviews can really tell. Try a search over at webhostingtalk.com and see if you can find some.
