I'll have that in mind if I need hosting.

You said it.

I currently use 1and1, and they've been reliable, and affordable. Their "Home" plan got my blog Webmaster-Source through a heavy StumbleUpon spike, and I've never had much downtime with them.

I don't like their 100mb limit, though I haven't run up against it yet. I probably will outgrow 1and1 eventually, either when I hit the 100mb DB quota, or when I start to max-out their CPU (yay for overselling ). I'll probably move to Media Temple then. But for now, 1and1 works.

I also register all my domains with them, and I haven't ever had a real problem (just some DNS issues once).

I have multiple accounts with them - both Linux and windows.
My sites on linux are down now and after spending over 40min on the phone I was given no explanation for the outage nor any ETA. On the top of this the suspended my account for supposed billing/CC issues earlier in the day.
That's the straw that broke the camel's back for me!!!
I'm still not sure where to go with windows hosting?
Debating between godaddy and hostgator.
Any feedback anyone?

Edit:

Now, not even 12h after the outage there's an email sitting in my box titled: Your Hosting Platform Scheduled for Upgrade - What a joke?!?

After doing some research last night I think I'm leaning toward lunar pages. They have been around for long and have pretty decent user reviews. Oh, they give you a free domain name for life as log as you host they them

my 2 cents

Me too! I got that message last week of February! And the thing is, I have waited for it to be moved. After that, I got pissedoff with them and transfered to HostGator! Oh well, I hate 1&1 since then.

Oh man....They robbed me!

I signed up with them, and they don't allow you to remove their frickin' template!

Also, the support is VERY basic. And not support enough in my opinion for a hosting package which they charge adequately for...but not adequate is the service they provide if you're at all serious about actually hosting a quality content site.

I upgraded to their SiteBuilder Tools package, which allows you to place your own code into the page...

HOWEVER, even after I got my money back on the 30 day refund (or is it 90 days?) they still charged me about 30 dollars total for that cheap app. which does nothing amazing.

Saw their ad in a business mag and they presented themselves Very Well. I even read, and reread the hosting signup info (I admit I gazed through it) and nowhere did they BLATANTLY state, or inform you that they don't allow you to completely remove the template.

I got SO MAD off of this. Complete waste of time.

Long story even shorter: I'm with GoDaddy.

Support sucks, billing department can't add up, and they sent me to a debt collection agency because I didn't want my domain auto-renewed and tried to argue the toss with them....

Steer clear....

Oh, and another thing about 1and1, you have a 7 day cooling off period after an order to change your mind and get a full refund without any penalty....sadly this fact is (or was) hidden deep down in the T&C's and their billing staff didn't know about it until I emailed them a link to their own website!
