Which dedicated server do I need for running web site with an adult content?

Hi there, this question will need further questions before it can be answered.

1. What sort of traffic are you receiving currently for the domain? Assuming that it is established, if it isn't, your needs obviously won't be as great.

2. What sort of functions will your site perform? Such as viewing images and videos?

I know that many hosts don't allow adult on shared, but is it also prohibited on dedicated as well? I mean legal adult, no child porn.

it will also depend on the upstream provider and what (if any) restrictions they place on the data centre

Hello ihtikk,

You will do some research major search engines you will find many of the host provides adult web hosting on shared hosting too. So I will suggest you to check out with the provider and read there TOS they would have mentioned there

Also, you can just start your adult hosting with cheap and best shared hosting services and can then upgrade it to a dedicated box.

Are you sure you are going to need a dedicated server? Adult content is allowed on shared hosting plans as well. hostgator.com, webhostingbuzz.com or site5.com allow this on their shared plans provided you host legal adult content.

I didn't know that Webhostingbuzz.com allows adult content on shared hosting. Where have you found info about that?
I think when the companies allow this, they must be very careful and keep an eye onhe content of the web sites that are hosted with them.

They do. I just checked their terms. Hostgator does as well.

Site5 however doesn't, and never did AFAIK.

There are many US and international hosts that are offing legal adult content. There is no specific need to go for a dedicated server to host adult sites unless if your sites are heavily resource intensive.

Oops, I am really sorry to mislead you as for site5.com allowing legal adult, I've just seen them used together with webhostingbuzz.com on the occasion, mistakingly thought this was adult hosting. I've checked myself, no site5.com doesn't allow, thanx for correcting me.

Maybe some hosts feel it is immoral to host such sites. It is usually written in their terms of service.

Do you think the matter is in morality? I think the matter is in the laws that functionate on the territory on the country where the datacenters of this company are located.
And it's also connected with the amount of bandwdth these web sites consume.

Most countries will have some kind of laws regarding certain types of content, but relatively few actually ban adult content altogether.
