Many sites that are resellers or owned by minors (you would be surprized how many there are) Do not allow adult. However some hosting companys like mine do if you do not have child porn and take reasonable steps to make sure minors dont accedently stumble on the adult content.

Yeah, there are a # of reasons why some hosts would allow adult versus others who don't. Public image, hackers, etc.

But getting back to your original question. DO you have an idea how much HDD space you need? Do you have a rough idea on BW needs? These are good starting points to get an idea for what your server needs are.

An I'm over 18 button won't stop minors. And i haven't seen any system that will.. C'mon they're not that dumb

Hosting adult sites isn't illegal almost all over the place, but some don't because of the "attachements" to it.

Have a look at dedicated hosting offers from www.3fm.net, www.Hqhost.net, they also seem to allow adult content with no child porn on their servers.

As far as I know adult related web sites very traficated and grow very fast. I think that it is quite difficult to guess how much he meeds

I have a couple of adult sites and have never had problems with hosting. I think so long as you're not hosting porn you don't have a problem but you do have to police the content quite rigorously...

Not sure, i guess each provider has their own goals, morales and terms of service. This will always varify

I was 16 once. I know I said acedently stumble appon it. My 7 year old niece stumbled apon one yesterday by accidentally (since then we have parent filters but even those don't work but there better then noting.)

Back to the question: I think a vps due to unexpected amounts of bandwidth associated with "adult" sites I suggst a vps with at least a 100 gigs bandwidth. Use a host that also offers dedicated servers. You may be interested in placing your site on a dedicated when revenue starts comming in.

There are two more meanings besides " a male goat" with much more connotation about them.

My attitude to adult sites is negative, by this I mean that I don't think that gawdy vulgar sites with no hint of taste and created for the sole reason of getting traffic and selling ads should exist at all, but that's my point of view, and I wouldn't impose it here.
Technically, the best way to host an adult site as well as any other site is to go dedicated, so a dedicated plan for $60-70 (serverpronto.com, ahosting.biz) to start with will be a good deal, later when the traffic is monetized, you may move somewhere bigger (serverpoint.com, rackspace.com).

Im in the adult webhosting business myself, and my servers are always under attack (mainly from russian spamers) but yes i agree as most of my browsing every day is of adult material my norton is in overdirve with all the attacks direct from the sites.

I would believe that most dedicated server providers would allow legal adult sites. The client is usually going to need a lot of hard drive space and bandwidth, which would be a plus for the provider.

As far as "which dedicated server you need", I would need more information on your site to be able to recommend something. It depends on how many videos or pictures you are going to have, how many users you expect, things of that sort. Remember you can always upgrade these specifics with most providers.

Legal yes. But it might be not profitable for adult web master and it might me toubleful once webmaster decided do something illegal - that might be problems.
