I use godaddy since I have been operating webistes. They have amazing customer service and my downtime rarely happens. I have been with the company now for 1 years and 6 months and I was down maybe 2 days once but it wasn't the host is was the connection from me to the host after I ping their ip address so I say 2 thumbs up and give it a try.

That's the problem with GoDaddy web hosting, they are way too restrictive - I signed up for one of their semi-dedicated Linux boxes - couldn't do anything, couldn't use my own SQL tool, couldn't import my SQL database as they only allow 2MB file size - endless stupid things like that. They put up more road blocks that anyone I've ever seen. I cancelled and got a refund.

Their shared plans are not developer friendly to say the least: no cron jobs permitted, no other SQL admin tools permitted except theirs, no SSH, no Exec(), etc.

I finally found 1849webhosting and got one of their VPS plans - nice - they have everything and I can use my external SQL tool. Their shared plans have the same nice features (cron jobs, SSH, exec(), etc.) - very nice hosting packages.

I used godaddy for 2 years with a friend. Their support was always helpful for me and you do get what you pay for 5gb and 250gb :P which I think is quite good.

If you dont trust them I suggest powweb...I used them for about 3 years great service, and live chat support which is always nice just walk in and ask away. And right now its only $6USD for 300GB of space and 3000GB of transfer o_O! I would continue to use powweb but I need ASP.NET atm and they are only PHP/MySQL etc..Linux but powweb is really good same with godaddy

Your comparing a shared plan to a private plan. So please tell me how that makes sense?

I think GoDaddy is perfectly dreadful. I was with them from the April through December 2006, and finally left in disgust when they attempted to hijack my most-visited domain.

My standards have gone up since then, considerably. GoDaddy has a problem with database-driven sites, which can load real slow on their shared systems. Support is dreadful and absolutely unable to solve problems like that -- they just hand them off to the customer.

For the first reason, domains, I suggest yo move far, far away from them.

You can get low prices at other hosts, and much, much better service and support.

See i never had these issues with godaddy they have always been top nouch. I have about 6 websites I currently host of one server and I never have issues with the server or the customer service. I like and will stay with godaddy for ever most likely considering I had only positive experiences with them.

Sorry to hear you are one of few that didn't like the company.

Cheers

Their web hosting has had mixed reviews I believe - some people say it's fine,it's depend on your use.
