PR is everything or G. would drop them in a flash.
PR is your directory ticket to G. search results and then higher PR then closer to the top your link popup. With out bragging Google for: cheap Canadian web hosting and you'll understand what PR is all about

Google PageRank firstly only calculates backlinks - nothing else. Real rankings are calculated by over 100 methods, with PR being only one of these. PageRank is constantly becoming more and more useless as it becomes more and more abused by spammers and link exchangers.

Google is extremely advanced - it's loyalties are to it's searchers and visitors, so it wants to provide the most useful and relevant results it can. PageRank doesn't do this at all - therefore it is becoming obsolete.

Ok whym, then please opinion me why G sucks from our bandwidth 6-7GBs every month and ‘Slurp’ up to 10 and sometimes more. Backlink (URL – domain) alone is only 20bits or less, 50,000 of them is only 10MB. What is all that sucking every bit of our site is all about?

I just came to know about your website so I just submitted my website to your directory. Let me see what you guys think.

Like whym said, directories never produce traffic as search engines does its a hard core fact and Google has more than 30 - 40 different informations to rank a website so the pagerank craze will fade away soon.

Ofcourse if you guys are not able to accept thats fine, there is paid plaements in the top websites.

DMOZ is hated by webmasters because it a polluted lazy place to be in the internet and 90% of the time they will be under maintainence and they never produce results.

Lol...no joder, I really don't care if I'm in it or not. I was just submitting to directories one night -- I do that sometimes because I figure it can't hurt. Although I may stop that completely -- really don't think it does much at all. You're so right that there are tons of better ways to get traffic.

I get over 80 percent of my traffic for that particular site from SE's, anyway.

always run nslookups for Yahoo, M$N, Ask and maybe another couple of

then compare their nslookup data with our.

As you can see all nslookups have something in common with ours so,
please tell everybody what it is.

Google might spend time looking at directories for backlinks etc., but traffic doesn't. Few people look through large directories for things, when they could just do a Google search and find what they want that way.

Your large traffic stats are probably mostly webmasters trying to submit their sites.

Wrong. Big directories will provide you with 20 – 30 most relevant results whereas G. will throw at you 1,000,000 of them. Granted 99.99% visit G. but there are people who go to Ask or AMRAY to find answers they need in first 10 results.

Not necessarily. Since this morning our Search Term Log recorded 940 search strings and I can assure you generated not by webmasters.

Good directories - Ones that people respect and where people can find information on a subject. Links are compiled by people who know the subject matter.

Bad directories - Ones with rotating images in the header that have nothing to do with anything.
Ones that have a video in the header that have nothing to do with anything.
Ones there are run by amateurs that are rude to people.
Ones that have a form for Check your URL Google PR that doesn't work in IE or Firefox.

I only use sites with links from a source I know would have information I'm looking for and are knowledgeable about a subject such as the guide sites on about.com. Browsing through ones like Amray are a waste of time.

Come on fastreplies, come back with how wonderful your directory is. The fact of the matter is, I wouldn't care if your directory was wonderful by some standards. I don't use sites like yours and it doesn't hurt anyone not to.

BTW, I never said I was a Big Shot expert "in" directories. I don't need to be. I don't know anyone that uses sites like yours. Some people have the intelligence to search and use quality sites. Go learn a little grammar while your at it.
