Very new to this, so need some help.

I'm planning to pay for manual submissions to couple of directories. But not sure what are the appropriate things to fill up in the forms.

Like keywords, my site is on cellphone reviews, so what kind of keywords shld i use? Nokia reviews? Motorola reviews? What? I have lots of models of phones so each page is unique. Maybe cellphone reviews? But hardly anyone searches for the term 'cellphone'. It's usually 'N93 nokia' or something like that. So i don't know how to target my keywords in these directory submissions. Can someone suggest?

How the title? Usually, they ask for more than 1 title. What shld i enter then?

Preferred categories? Are all categories in directories the same? My impression is no. So I shld just guess what categories I want? Like cellphones? technology? consumer electronics?

Pls help. Tks.

Visit the directories you're planning to submit to and review their submission guidelines (if they have any). Then do a search (if they have a search feature) and see what kinds of sites are indexed in your particular niche.

Then once you have a query set in front of you, review which categories these sites are indexed in and determine which of these sites is more closely related to your subject matter. From there you'd be able to determine what is the most suitable category for your site.

No, not all directories have the same category structure. Some spend several months doing taxonomy research to properly classify and sub-classify topics based on their subject scope, while others simply rip-off the work someone else has done.

Basic rule of thumb is, if your site is selling something it belongs in a shopping category. If your site is offering reviews (or information) it belongs in an information category.

If your site is both selling and offering information, it belongs in a shopping category because the primary focus isn't the information -- the site exists to sell something.

Hope this helps.

For keywords I'd suggest ::

mobile phones, electronics, celluar phones, nokia, motorola

What terms might not be popular on a search engine, might be popular searches in a directory.

Some directories keep track of queries on their db while others do not. Personally, on my own directory -- we keep track of ours and have 5 years worth of queries in our db. So, we have a pretty good idea of what gets looked for and what doesn't (with regard to our own directory).

Make sure the company submitting your site, at least follows the proper submission format (if one is provided). No editor wants to get a submission where everything is in caps and the description is overly promotional.

If you write a description that follows the basic format of what you see in the directory being submitted to, chances are most of your description will be OK and require very little editing.

In my own directory though, our editors always rewrite the description because then it's unique. If the same site owner submits to lots of directories and uses the same wording and none of the directories change it, we all end up with duplicate content.
