Hi, does any one has news about "dmoz". Whenever I try to submit to it, I get that the service is temporarily unavailable! I have been getting this for a long time.

I would have been very surprised if you had recieved a reply within a month. Expect to wait up to one year, Or more.

Don't worry about it though, A link in Dmoz isn't going to have any large impact, It's just a link.

Think again, a link in Dmoz means ALOT! Dmoz got PR9, and thats not something you can find on other Directories.

Dmoz got good PR, but you site is listed (if yes) on page with over 200 or 300 links. Has more than 4 millions of links. Do you think these 4 millions of websites have a great deal with dmoz?

I see that Dmoz have merged some categories or delete them. Now I can't see more

Ahhhhh sweet PageRank. Google's great misleader. When are they gonna scrap that thing once and for all?

Anyway, here's the problem with DMOZ...it sends NOTHING. I have sites (as in the plural) listed in the directory, and a few pages of those sites which, if I'm being honest, don't deserve to be there (and I never submitted them). Do any of those sites get any traffic from any of the DMOZ listings or those of the feeder sites? No. Not one visitor. Nada. Nil. Zilch.

DMOZ is a dinosaur with exactly one editor (that I've run across) that gets that there are problems and that other editors won't acknowledge them.

So...what does all this mean? Don't bother worrying about DMOZ. Submit if you can, spend maybe 5 minutes on it, and move on. There is no benefit, other than an unproven and perceived search engine benefit, to a DMOZ listing. Even some of the crap directories generate more traffic than DMOZ.

If the only benifit of being in Dmoz is to increase your PR you have proved my point, It's not worth worrying about getting in Dmoz.
