Hi,
Do you think that we must not go over than 20, 50 or 100 new submission by week or by month in directories?
I tell you this because I have read that over than 100 Backlinks by week could drop your site to the Google sandbox for a while!
True or not?

You generally want to have you're link building look natural. If you put up a new site and within a week had several thousand links pointing to it that could flag your site as praciting spammy seo techniques.

Most non spam sites don't build links that fast, but some do so it's not a black and white issue. It's possible that the launch of a new site was timed with a lot of offline marketing and links did build quickly.

I don't know if there's a specific number you want to limit yourself to. We all want links so if you can get them you should probably get them. As long as they're quality links. Many directories aren't going to be quality links anyway. There are probably only a hanful of helpful general directories and you can also submit to topic related directories.

Most general directories aren't going to be worth all that much though.

I'm not sure if i really answered your question though as far as giving an exact number. I'm not sure there is. Personally I find driectory submissions to be really tedious so I don't like doing more than a few at a time anyway.

I haven't noticed any ill-effects from something like directory submission. At most, you're going to get a few hundred links, not the thousands that spammy Viagra sites get.

It's all relative - I really doubt Google or any of the SEs would concern themselves with numbers that low. There are way too many legitimate sites that could gain 200 links at once just by submitting an article or hitting the first page of Digg.

Also, keep in mind that most directories don't approve your link right away, so you wouldn't get all of the links at once anyway.

I think it depends a little on the rest of your link profile. I agree it's probably not going to have ill-effects, but if the only links your site has are from 100 or so low quality directories then it's not going to help at all.

If some of those directories are spammy then it can hurt some. Google is just as likely concerned with your ratio of high quality to low quality links. Have too many of the bad kind and you're not doing your site any good.

Unfortunately in the last few years there has sprung up a lot of low quality directories. Most aren't going to give you any benefit and may not be worth time to fill out a form and submit to them.

I agreet that it's ok to get links and even many links quickly. I don't think there's an absolute number you can put on how fast to build links since there are other variables. And while Google may see too many links too fast as a problem MSN will probably love it.

I think the best practice is to simply go after high quality links. They take a little longer to get anyway, but they're going to be worth more than the low quality variety.

It takes a while for directories to approve your link, and then it takes a while for the site to be spidered. It is not like the links hit the SE the next day. It takes a while and is spread out over a larger amount of time.

This is well said as it won't have any negative impact. Keep submitting them, but focus on quality directories more than anything else.

I think that the best way is to keep a moderate and constatn rithm of submission, 100/day if you can.
