What are the chances of getting into DMOZ?

What are the chances of getting into DMOZ Directory. Even when you follow all the guidelines could you still be rejected.

I don't know.

Chances are you may or may not get in there.

I think I heard from their forum they said they only accept the best of the best sites. If it's not as big as Google, Linux, or any big sites chances are real slim.

I never got any of my sites added. My chances must have been very low.

The chances of being included is....it depends. It depends on the category, the number of sites already listed, editor interest, and so on. If your site meets all the criteria for a listing then it'll be listed if it's reviewed - assuming you suggested it to the best possible category.

FYI, Brian's site is still waiting in unreviewed. It hasn't been rejected.

What I am getting to is if there is a way i can know if my site has been rejected or still pending for review.

hello...

If i can answer slim to none. By the time they get around to letting you in you alredy have a PR rank so to me i see it as worthless but??? I guess its a i wanna get in thing. I tried with my 1st site and never heard anything back so i could care less about them... sorry just being honest.

I've tried to get into DMOZ but either the editors are that picky or don't exsist and there is a random script bot picking a lotto winner for listings. lol

DMOZ doesn't deserve any more, or any less, credit than any other directory that hasn't advanced with the times in the past 5-7 years.

In other words, submit it, forget it, if you get listed, great, if not, don't sweat it.

i dont think they care about their criteria. It al depends on the caretgory editor. Some editors are just not very smart. but i think i am doing ok.
one of my sites has 19 listings
another one has 9 listings
and 3 others have 2 listings each.

I suggest find many categories related to your site and try to add.

lmao... Yea that is a great way to get them pissed off and have your domain blacklisted. I agree, and like i mentioned above they arent all that to me so i would rather not even bother,but thats me im not a very patient kind of guy....

Chances of getting into DMOZ is slim. I submitted two years ago and I have since been told that since my category has no editor and they won't accept a new one for it that I won't ever get in.

That site in your profile was reviewed and rejected over two years ago. You probably submitted the site when you had fewer listings in your directory? For directories to be listed they have to have a lot of quality listings. Compare the number of listings you have to the directories already listed in the category.

BTW, whether or not a category has no listed editor is not a factor in whether or not a site will be reviewed.

Good luck getting listed on DMOZ. It is getting harder every year.
It used to be easier before.

I was told specifically by another mod that that category didn't have a mod and nothing would be reviewed. I've had my site for 5 years now and when I submitted it, the site had around 3000 links. Some of those sites aren't even Christian directories, their article sites explaining different aspects of Christianity.

Anyways I've submitted it again and we'll see if anything happens, but I've always reserved myself to believe that my site would not get into dmoz.

Either the person who told you that is not an editor, or is an editor with very little experience. Every category has many editors, and categories without listed editors continue to have sites added to them every day. I know for a fact that's true. Sorry to hear you were misinformed.

Time frames are unpredictable. The process is too random. Editors can review sites in any order and at anytime; they're not on a set editing time frame. Your site could be reviewed tomorrow or a few years from now. Any editor that's listed further up the category tree can review your site, as well as about 200 editors that can edit in every category in the directory.
