I'm only taking a guess here. I assum you'll need to capitalize the first letter of your title. Your title should be "Americana Host".

I think the descriptions have to be proper grammer.

exactly, proper capitalization is good grammer.

Although that does not mean you might get in there. It's like freeware they give no guarentees when, or if anyone can get into DMOZ.

If they approve it they do it but if they don't they don't.

Even if you don't get into DMOZ your still a winner online. Everybodys a winner and is unique.

One more thing: Whatever you do if you feel uncomfortable changing your site from unique just to get in there it's not worth it. Why not do free family friendly banner exchanges, ask for exchanging relevant links without spamming, or just show your family.
