I submit my link like 5 month ago! And it is not over there! It was just regular web site about city of Boston www.BostonSweb.com with pictures and information and they never add it in there directory! Moreover, the same thing happened with www.ManhattanService.com Month already, and i can't find it in DMOZ directory. I don't trust DMOZ anymore!

Don't worry. As I have written in another post, one of my sites has been accepted only 7 month after my submission.

You expected it sooner? That was your first mistake.

You know how sometimes you're driving on the highway and there's that little old lady hunched over the steering wheel of a Buick in the left lane doing about 20 while the cars behind her try to pass her and she remains completely oblivious to everything that's going on because she believes her unique brand of "defensive driving" is the only way to go? And then she eventually causes some sort of accident because of her swerving across the lane left and right causing the cars behind to have to react on a dime?

That's DMOZ.

Funny Adam. I do like DMOZ a little more than you do, but I agree about that time thing.

manahattan it can take years to get a DMOZ listing if you ever even get one. It's just one link so submit and forget about it. You'll either get listed or you won't, but spending any time worrying about it is counterproductive.

I am going to create the next DMOZ...but it will be like all sports car and Chuck Norris instead of grandma.

We can call it sportnorris.

Looking at some of those sites, I don't know if I would approve the submissions immediately. I might let them sit in unreview for a while and see if the content continues to grow.

I've been critical of DMOZ for quite some time now, but in their defense I gotta say, directories get thousands of spam submissions and it's a lot of work to go through all of those and find the worthy sites.

And, I do see some changes happening. I think they are becoming a tiny bit more responsive to webmasters, and a tiny bit more receptive of criticism.

That's good John if DMOZ is becoming a little more recpetive to criticism. I'm not one who's overly critical of them though I do believe they can do a better job. I still find it a useful directory though in truth I prefer search engines to directories most of the time.

And I do need to make it over to your forum more often. I've certainly read a lurked there, but have yet to start posting. V7N is next on my list though.

DMOZ's mission is to collect and preserve unique as well as informative sites on the internet for the general public users.
They decide what goes in and what goes out.

You don't have to worry about it and start posting your displeasure in every available forum.
There are multiple ways to promote your site. DMOZ is NOT the first and last website for all the internet users.

Promote your site on other directories and search engines.

I agree with that.

Good luck.

You won't ever get a reply. When it comes to DMOZ just submit the site as best you can and forget about it. It's just one link. There are many more out there. A DMOZ listing won't make or break your site.

Hahah, echo what the others have said. You haven't been patient enough. There is no guarantee from Dmoz that they will list your site within a specific time frame. There isn't even a guarantee that they will list your site. For all you know your sites could have been rejected. Treat it as such and promote your site whether or not you get a Dmoz listing. Believe me, I've heard it all too often, "Dmoz isn't a listing service for webmasters," and "they are very, very low on the priority list of things" - even below reviewing suggested sites. Nothing seems to have changed.
