Since DMOZ is so corrupt and pointless to submit to, why don't the experienced webmasters and experts on these forums get together and start their own ODP with a much better system....and force google to use the data too...

I would imagine that it has been attempted 1000's of times. Not saying it couldn't be done but it would require an EXTREMELY aggressive plan to get pagerank, submissions, respect, etc. in a fairly short amount of time and countless hours of work (on a volunteer basis) from those who are trying to get the ball rollin'.

100 people working full time for a year would not be able to build something the size of DMOZ.

Funny how those who keep claiming MOZ is corrupt never produce any evidence ???

Have you ever considered that the very reason Google uses DMOZ is the very reason webmasters complain about it? eg DMOZ must be corrupt because its not meeting MY SEO needs --- thats probably why Google use it.

I must admit. I don't really know why google uses it as about half of the sites listed in Dmoz are homepages that are poorly designed.

If these homepages then have advantage of ranking higher than other good looking sites that have a main goal of wanting to do well online, then Google will be bringing up results that are poor.

Im under the impression Google uses DMOZ as a "stepping stone" to find websites....

There are millions of poorly designed sites that arent in DMOZ but have high ranking on Google. Page design has nothing to do with ranking.
