Hello,

Have a quick question. I am fighting for earch engine rankings for this search term "music video codes" in Yahoo. Currently I'm listed between #30-34 in SE results.

Also for that search term the results show no websites listed in the yahoo directory which normally come up first.

My question to you is, if I pay the $300 to get listed in the Yahoo directory, and my site is accepted, will that shoot me to the #1 ranking in Yahoo for the search term "music video codes" since there are no other sites listed in the Yahoo Directory for this term?

Thanks for you help...

No it wont help you one bit

What it will do is change your title tag to the directory wording - which wont be as good as the meta title you have.

Having paid the fee a while back i am now waiting to be removed from the directory in the hope of my listings showing my own meta titles in the future rather than the directory one which doesnt do my site justice.

Thats my two pennys worth anyway! good luck

FYI I have one site listed #1 and #2 for my targeted (and also competitive) keywords and the positions didn't change after it was removed from the yahoo directory.

I've found the blog and ping method very helpful in improving my rankings in Yahoo.

It's easy and free so I'd give that a try before you go spending any money!

What blog did you use? Did you use Blogger.com or your own blog site?

Ironically,
having a listing in the Yahoo directory will probably help you more in google and Msn, which emphasize link popularity and pagerank so much, than Yahoo itself

they always used a click tracking link with a 302 redirect. So a yahoo listing never did
