What do you think of bidding web directory?

Dear all,

I'd like to ask for your opinion - as part of paid directory, bidding web directory is growing in numbers, as well as in uses.

What do you think of the bidding web directories? Useful or useless, good value for money or a waste of money, etc.

Please share your opinion!

Bidding webdirectory is good if it's seo friendly and got higer ranking. Lets say if it's page rank 6 or 7 at the main page, and page rank 3 at the related category page, Buying a postition (top or last wont' matter if it's on the same page) there may help getting a higher ranking position in search engine.

Or not is more likely, given that they are obviously paid links.

The usual "rules" apply.
Buy links for the traffic and advertising and you won't be disappointed.

I'd say they are useless
I've never purchased a link on a bidding directory and I never will

Bidding directories are a big no no in Google's eyes with the recent backlash against paid links.

To add, instead of being the usual backlink purpose, bid directories are often being overlooked as an advertising media.

Do some research about the directory before submitting your link there. Web directories with good search friendly design are more appropriate for higher ranking and investing there could be of help.

paid directory useless...
paid site useful (related site very valuable)
if you have place your link in any site with paid... check first that page traffic.. then you add in that page....Thats very very valuable and useful...

Bidding directory is the one which gets very easily noticed by Google for paid links, as its a directory which is dedicated to sell PR and sell links, and Google is against it.

You are not selling reviews but selling PR. So bidding directories are not good for link building.

I think the only one who will really benefit is you because the end result is money rather than quality.

It's an interesting idea, but I don't think it will be well-received.

Its been there since quite a few months and this concept is now going to fade away as people are right, Google always tries to be a step ahead of webmasters and their concepts.

And this kind of paid linking isn't good at all.

Well, it depends...

Some of my favorite web directories are paid (Best of the Web, Yahoo Directory) -- but if you're bidding for a spot, then you're going to lose the quality aspect. As the directory administrator, you're going to keep your eye on the ball (the money) and not get the high quality links that you should aim for instead.

Ofcourse, actually my point is that.. General paid directories like Yahoo, Botw and others are with pure and good editorial integrity! But bidding directories aren't.

So to sum up what you think of bid directory - it's against google guidelines and not a good type of paid directory because the money matters most than quality.

To clarify, this is not entirely true - yes, bid directories are exist because of the financial side in mind. However, for those who 'believe' in a bid directory, it really helps them promote and strengthen their site. Most bid directories invest a lot of money, if not all of the revenue, to strengthen their own site (in term of traffic and PR), so that others can benefit from it.

Some authority bid directories such as zorg-directory dot com have top bidders at $3000. The owner told me that he invested most money (in the thousands of dollar) to strengthen his bid dir.

Actually, its money all invested in vain.
The submitter and the directory owner, both are wasting their money.

I myself have a bid directory and know how it works and what gets people to bid more in it. Strengthening can be done by bidding in other bid directories etc. which is indirectly link exchange which is again disliked by google.
