Hi Guys

I'm new at SEO and I've read many conflicting reports as to whether there is any point submitting to directories.

If your site is in Dmoz, Google, Yahoo, MSN and Ask this is better than submitting to many directories.

Most people believe that incoming links from websites with a Page Ranking of 2 or above are useful but need to be related to your website content.

Could anyone give me there opinion and reasons?

thanks
Dan

Not only there is point in submitting to directories, it is a must.
Where else you will get links from, mostly if you have new site. Think about that.

Dmoz, Google, Yahoo, MSN and Ask is only 4 links (Dmoz and Google 1 link)
If you are talking about generating Visitors, then that might be enough but if you are one of those who want high PR, then you need more than that.

Link is a link is a link no matter where it comes from.
Sure thing some morons will tell you don't bother to submit to PR0 directories but then again their own "high" PR nowhere to be found.

Directories are the only friends you have at any stage of your site progression and if you really want to get places then forget what PR they carry and pray to Got for luck to be listed in as many of them as you can find.

I think PR is not valuable today, linking to site that has good content and authority plus relevancy would help better.

There are thousands of webdirectories available these days. Some of them are quite seo friendly and promote their site and listings well. Having a backlink from such directories can get you a higher search enigne rankings and traffic.
