Why Directory sites doesnt show as back link?

Hi,

I have submitted my site to different paid directories, one month ago..
when i search "mysitename.com" in google, i can find the result from directory sites

also....
but when i check the back links "link:mysitename.com" in google, i could not find any

directory site.

Pls let me know wt to do now..??

Anyone, do correct me if Im' wrong on this, but I think some directories will use a "nofollow" if you do the free submission.

1/ it takes longer than a month
2/ The link: operator is "broken"
3/ most directories aren't worth the bandwidth they use.

4) Google doesn't show up that many links even if you have a lot. Use Yahoo SiteExplorer to see where backlinks are coming from if you must.

For the most part only some of the older free directories use the no follow tag. Alot of the newer ones are seo freindly.

you will need to wait until google does a backlink update in order to see if any of those links will show up. Google does a backlink update around the same time they do page rank which is about every 3-4 months.

5) Google Webmaster Tools will give you a better idea if it registers a link to your site than the broken link: operator ever did (although it doesn't separate nofollow from follow).

6) Why do you care, unless you're chasing the SEO directory rainbow?

7) Most directories aren't even worth the storage space they use, never mind the bandwidth.

8) This will probably turn into a smiley, so there's no real point here.

9) If you're resorting to directories for SEO traffic, you're throwing all your eggs into the SEO basket. That's an unstable practice at the best of times. How come your site won't generate any additional traffic from other sources? What's wrong with it? These are the questions you should ask yourself.

Use Google analytics, so that they can log all your traffic and backlinks

Visit directories you submitted your URL to.

Open page with links and point your mouse over the Title and look at the bottom bar.

If you see link to your site then Directory is SEO friendly, if you see internal link,
then you wasted your money

Some directory owners even show a NOFOLLOW to search engines, and a normal link otherwise. You should view Google's cache of the page, and view its source code to confirm that you have a direct link.

whym is right...

Forget about backlinks you see in Google, because they are meaningless.

We have now according to G. backlinks checker 59 links and PR5.
6 month ago we had almost twice less and G ranked us PR6 and 4 years ago
over 400 and only PR4. LOL

No one cares about backlinks any longer and you should too stop worry
about what G. is doing publicly and start looking at the big picture. If your
site coming up in Top 10, 50 or 100 for your main keywords, then you made it
regardless of amount or lack of them

I agree with "fastreplies", what is important is SERP. Back links has no meaning, but still since it is impossible to avoid getting them, it is better to test the link page in G(if no PR) whether the page is indexed. If it is not indexed no point in posting there.

use yahoo, and i don't think paid directories use nofollow.
