sizzler_cheatan, if you've been here as long as me, you get used to this sort of link dropping behaviour. Doesn't make you tolerate it, but you become less surprised it happens

Thankfully it isn't. As a mod, I like to be on my guard at all times - you never know when a spammer is going to jump out from behind the wall!

To generate traffic, you may advertise on those high traffic hits website eg. google? alexa? or depends on what product and content you are in.
Spamming forum is not the way, I personal trageted in search engine e.g. yahoo, google or baidu.
