Hello,

I would like to start a web directory but I have a few specific needs for the package I want to use. I want to be able to exchange only reciprocal links. I want it to be free and I want to be able to give a link to the user that wants to post his website but I would like to receive a link to another website (not my directory). Also, I want the system to automatically check the links every so often. Is there a package that provides this? If it doesn't provide only reciprocal links that's alright. Thanks for your help.

If you feel comfortable using CGI and MySQL,
then you can check TurboSeek

Thanks for link, it looks good but I can't find an option for choosing where the reciprocal link will go.. could you point me to where I can find that feature on that page?

Reciprocal link in that script available as an option.
You can turn it On and Off in Admin Control Panel.

To use it, all you will need is to add "Reciprocal Link" field to your Submission Form

alright that's great but is there a way to specify so that the user submitting to the directory doesn't link to the dir but to another website and then have the cron check for the link everyday knowing that each user might be linking back to different websites...

I got it this time

You can use any link inside of reciprocal you want.
Reciprocal link script will check presence of link to your site
and not its content.

so user with website www.user.com comes on my directory www.directory.com and he wants to submit to my directory, in my reciprocal field i ask him to link to www.myotherwebsite.com from www.user.com, he indicates the page on www.user.com which has the link to www.myotherwebsite.com and the reciprocal cron script will check for the link to www.myotherwebsite.com from the page indicated at www.user.com and it won't produce an error because there is no link to directory.com from user.com. this package will do this correct? just to make sure...
